anyone buy their sheltie from a breeder?
I got Amber from a breeder on a farm in Lancaster. She was born in a litter of six. Her father is Rascal, and her mother is Lassie. :smile2:

Mine have all been adult rescues, but I would not be against purchasing a Sheltie from a reliable, knowlegable breeder some day.

All my shelties have come from a Breeder, I just lost one of my 15yr. olds and his brother 15 also came from the same Breeder, they had the SAME FATHER but Dreamer's MOTHER was Teeka's GRANDMOTHER, the other three are unrelated. We don't have a sheltie rescue around us.

Sheltt:smile2:

I have bought both Jewel who is now at the rainbow bridge and the new sable and white female pup who is nameless yet she was just born 2/19/08 she is also from a breeder . We have sheltie rescue butthey have had none available for awhile now so that is a good thing because that means they are all in forever homes.:smile2:

Both my shelties are from breeders in north Georgia. I tried going through rescue, but unfortunately my app. was rejected by one local sheltie rescue because my yard is not fenced, and the other never got back to me with any shelties they thought would be a good match. I guess I'm hard to place a rescue with....I had another dog, two cats, and two kids under age 10...I had a good experience getting my boys from breeders though, and I would do it again.

I got Gabe from a breeder and plan to get puppies from a breeder in the future. However, I'm also open to rescue and would love to give a senior a home once we have the means to do so!

We got our Darius from a breeder, the same dam that gave my mother-in-law their sheltie. My MIL and Sister-in-Law also each got puppies from the litter, so we have a full family of loves. :D

so it seems we have a mix of getting shelties from breeders and rescues alike. i'd love to rescue, but when i went to the spca near my home i didn't find a suitable dog. Hopefully i can also rescue dogs in the future.

Three of my shelties have been from breeders in New York. My first (in 1982) was from a pet store so I guess you could say she was probably from a puppy mill. I would love to add another sheltie either from rescue or from a breeder.

Smoke came from a breeder here in KY when he was 8 weeks old, and when Smoke was 10 months we bought little Apollo from a breeder in IN, also at 8 weeks. The next dog will definitely be another Sheltie, but after raising the 2 puppies back to back I think I am ready for an adult rescue :wink2:
