its minnie. we is getting a boy puppy

After we made the commitment with the breeder, Minnie and I took a walk where we had spread Sandstorm's ashes. I cried the whole walk. Minnie still reacts to his name,, I was afraid with the new puppy I would eventually forget Sandstorm and I don't ever want to. We came home, I was fine. This new puppy we're getting was born on mother's day, my first without my mother. Sandstorm was the first dog my mother loved, and when he died, a month before she did, she was so sad. And then Colonel Underpants joined Sandstorm. This is life. ❤️
So true. As you will read, Layla will soon join Sandstorm and Colonel Underpants to be forever young.

Karen, there is a whole lot of "meant to be" in your story. Trust me, you will NEVER forget Sandstorm. You will see him in all the special places in your house that were his, on the walks you take, on beautiful days, and in so many other places. I know. It doesn't get easier, and a puppy never replaces the one who was lost, but a puppy will make you smile, because you can't help it. And that will ease the pain. :hugs
Your so right Ann…I think of Riley all the time and most often they’re happy memories. None of my dogs have taken his place. I think we have lots of room in our hearts for love.

I know I will never forget any of my dogs in my life because God sent them to me when I needed an Angel in my life.
Miss April was with me when my first wife passed away and gave my life meaning. She gave me purpose when I was questioning my faith and showed me how to love again.
Dewey was here as I was lost and working on rebuilding myself.
Teddy was sent to help me make my old age the best it can be and he does a really good job at it. He is my constant companion and will look for me when we are apart. He makes dealing with health issues so much easier.
My point of this is I will never forget any of my companions for they are tied to other events in my life. Just them being there make those other events easier to deal with and now remember.
I am also 100 percent sure that none of my dogs would want to be my last dog, for they all know my heart will always have room for one more.without displacing their memory.
I believe that in my case, They were and are Gods gift to me. I know I will never forget any of them and someday I will see them all together again

I'm so pleased to see you are getting a pup. They don't take the place of your heart dog but just create their own little space in your heart and help ease things with their love and goofiness. I still miss and think about Harley but Monty helps as he brought smiles, frustrations and a new personality.
