Japanese Ear Tape

How much time do you wait for the rubbing alcohol to dry before you tape it?

That was my problem. i would clean her ears with rubbing alcohol and then put the tape in right after. her ears weren't dry enough and the tape wouldn't stick.

Now I wait about an hour or two before I tape them and it sticks much better

yes some breeders are in AZ for the nationals. are they dry and oil free? is the tape wide enough to hold? Or are you making to thin?

I feel for you. I had the hardest time getting Justice ears to stay down. He has short ears too. It was maddening. I tired everything but ended up redoing them every couple days. He has the only ears in the litter that tip though. Not great but they tip.:smile2: Justice's Dad had the same little ears and his tipped just the same way.

With the girls, their ears were longer and not as thick as his. They always stayed put until I took them out. I was in heaven. :biggrin2:

Hopefully someone has some advise.

Thanks for the replies :)

I've been waiting about 20 minutes to put the tape in. The tape I put on her ear sticks to her ear, it's the roll of tape that I put on the tape that doesn't stick. It may be that it's too wide because her ears do seem kind of small.

I'm going to try one more time tonight and maybe make the rolls smaller.

I did hear back from Sherry Wallace here in town and she said she could help (and groom Bentley) when she gets back to Charleston. I'm very excited about that! Bentley, too, is in need of a real grooming!
