Great News!
So glad to hear that Justus was not seriously injured and that he is not showing any ill effects of shyness from seeing other dogs!

I had a Collie growing up and a German Shepherd two doors down from me just hated him. No reason at all for him to dislike my Duke.

I was coming home from visiting my neighbor across the street and I saw the Shepherd bolted out his front door and came straight at me! He lunged at my face as I was running away from him (bad mistake)! I threw my arm up to shield my face and he grabbed my upper arm and we both fell to the ground.

The owner rushed out of his house screaming... what happened as he pulled his dog off! I said your dog bit me as I held my arm... I was wearing a white shirt and blood was streaming down! He said ... oh, you just fell on a stick!!!

My mother heard the attack and my collie was at the side door of my home ready to bolt out to protect me! My mom said she had NEVER seen his mane stand straight up... she said he looked like a lion.

I was taken to the hospital and the doctor and police could clearly see the two canine puncture marks from his front teeth! I would never have walked with that dog! You are braver than I...

Although I do not distrust German Shepherds... I would never trust the German Shepherd that attacked me!

There the "Figurant -bad guy" runs away and raises the arms as if he is going to beat the dog - and the dog bits into the arm protection. Yes, as I said ... Bad mistake that I ran away. I was young and was scared and was not thinking as the dog charged me. I know to stand still now.

FYI, The dog was never trained as a security dog. Any good security dog could be called off in a split second before attacking and the owner gives the command to attack or not. Those are trained dogs... This was not one of them!

Anyway, the sheltie Justus is fine and not hurt... That is the important thing.

After this incident hopefully the neighbor will be on alert from now on with
his pit. The posts are right other breeds can be just as dangerous, and owners should take responsibility.
