Let me ask everyone this.........

How many Shelties out there bust in on their owners in the bathroom on a regular basis? I had to ask because it strikes me funny that every time I am in the bathroom not one but all three come busting through the door to see what I'm up to. If I latch the door one or two of them lay outside kind of whimpering like "are you coming back?". They try to do this to my husband as well...... where do they think we go? Do they just want to make sure that we're ok? I would really love to read their minds!!

This is a subject near and dear to my heart. Sadie follows me everywhere, and I mean everywhere!

If I leave the bathroom door ajar (our doors need to be replaced so more often than not its ajar) she'll burst in and swing the door wide open. Either that or she just follows me up the stairs, into the washroom where she waits patiently for me and then follows me back downstairs afterward.

When she was younger she did not like not being included when I took showers so the little bum would pee on the floor outside the door in retaliation. Although she doesn't do this anymore, she likes to be in the bathroom with me when I shower, she'll either lie on the bath mat or peak her nose around the shower curtain and lick up the water.

Absolutely no privacy in my house! :rolleyes2:

Ontario I had the same problem. When I took showers my Chasity would have to come in and lay on the bath mat, which she scooted infront of the door where she liked it. Or poke her nose around the curtain to see what I was doing and lick the water. However, I am a listen to music while I shower girl. I was obsessed around that time era with Evanescence when they first came out. While I was showering Chasity would lower the music on songs she wasn't so fond of and BLAST the music on her favorite song by evanescence. Now my mother asked me why would I lower and raise the volume on songs while I am showering and just leave it at one volume. I didn't know how to explain it was the dogs doing. She laughed at me and said yeah right. So I had to prove it to her one day. I put the boombox on the floor, placed the cd in.. and sure enough here comes Chasity with her paw up and ready to lower or raise the volume and she did. My mother was SHOCKED. I told her Chasity had a favorite song by them and it was ALWAYS done in the bathroom during my shower or bath time. So needless to say she LOVED going in the bathroom with me.. even if I was going in to pee. She thought ooooo music time. So on the dedication page I had made for her when she passed I had her favorite evanescence song placed on her site. I think I still cry when I hear the song.

I let Fred in the bathroom while I shower and I realized I probably had a better chance of getting him to take a bath quietly if I did the same lol. So this morning after I finished my shower, I stayed in and gave Fred a shower too. He actually loved it lol and I didn't have to struggle with keeping him the tub :D. Now I just need to figure out how to make him like the blowdryer...:o

Yep, in my house it's a team effort. Barkley is assigned to poke his nose in the door to crack it; Pixie's job is to push it open wide enough so they can get in, and Ivy eggs them on and leads the charge. Heaven forbid the door is latched. Pixie jumps up on it (no mistaking the barrage of paw pounding), Barkley yips at a high enough decibel to break glass, and Ivy pushes until it opens. I admit I do not understand the fascination of sharing the bathroom experience, but.... :confused2: One wonders if they are trying to figure out why we don't go on grass! :rolleyes2:

In my house, it's not just a Sheltie thing to join me in the bathroom. I have cats who also keep me company. Forget about shutting the door. If I do that, :eek2:Spencer sits outside the door and howls (he could give the coyotes that howl at night a run for their money). And Elijah, my big orange cat, paws at the door which drives me to distraction. So I make sure the door is held open with a door stop and now it's a free-for-all and :rolleyes2:I never have to be concerned about being alone (not that that's a good thing!)

I decided to look at it this way: If there were an Academy Award for Best Performance by a Sheltie Mom Going to the Bathroom, the Nattering Springs Sheltie Academy would vote for me in a heartbeat. "I'd like to thank my Mother, who taught me always to wear clean underwear..."

Yep, no privacy with a sheltie, that's for sure. If I'm sitting down in the bathroom, that's her chance to bring me a toy to throw. No rest for the weary. CeCe's first bath was because she had to jump in and see what was going on behind that curtain while I was showering.

:razz:Everyone's stories are so funny, but so true. I've only had my puppy for a month and a half and she already finds it necessary to come into the bathroom with me and just lay on the bath mat. I leave the door ajar as she is still too little to push the door open. The cat follows too and just plops down. When I lived with my parents, their sheltie would wait outside the door if it was closed and push her way in if it was ajar. It was really funny. Never thought to think that other shelties may behave the same way.
