Hey Trini
We are leaning towards a male. I keep reading there's not much of a difference but I think I just want a male. We have been around a few Shelties and gravitate around ones that are laid back, sweet and affectionate. The ones that are okay to not get attention for a little bit. I find some are more demanding than others while others are okay to wait their turn to be pet.
I worry a little bit about the barking and whether Sheltie would be yappy...
We lean to ones that are okay to be on their own for a little bit. For instances if I'm petting a bunch of Shelties they are the ones that demand constant attention while there are others that are okay to wait their turn.
I hear the Sheltie can be very vocal and wry of strangers but every one I met has not barked a whole lot and were very friendly.
