Missouri Passes New Puppy Mill Law

David, no one here is belittling the effort you and other Missouri residents have done to get this bill passed. I think it is safe to say that everyone here believes this new law is a step in the right direction. I get the impression from posts that some people are just concerned with how seriously puppy mill breeders will take this law with such a low $300 fine and how strictly the law will be enforced. No one is trying to take away anything from your accomplishments.

Since you were an advocate for this law and know more about it than anyone else here, it would be great if you could further explain to us anything that we don't understand or what may have been left out of the news articles.

Trying this again...

I've reopened this thread for a second attempt at a civil & respectful conversation regarding this important topic.

I just popped in here, and David wanted everyone to know he is fine, but is having computer problems and is not able to even read forum posts. His internet provider cannot make a service call intil tomorrow.

He will check in when he is up and running.

So glad it was only an IT problem. Hope David knows that we all support his effort to help get the law passed. Hope it is a real good first step to tougher laws everywhere so that no other dog of any breed ever suffers again in the puppy mills.

Phew, I was worried when this thread disappeared and hadn't seen any sign of David being online, so relieved it is an IT problem.

We humans have such total control over animals' lives, my fervant hope is that the responsibility of that power will sink into people's consciousness....

Incremental steps are better than nothing and we can all keep working for improvement from there.

Keep on fighting, David.

Every little step counts! Think of the lives that this new law will save. I totally feel for David as we are also trying to get some anti-puppy mill laws here and right now, we can't even get the authorities to accept our non-binding guidelines! I would love to hear what was done to achieve the new law!

I'm certain we have puppy mills in my state, but we also have dog and cat hoarders too. Thanks to different communties, and residents like David who work to shut them down.

From what I see and hear on the news people aren't shy about turning these people in because its a disgrace how many of the dogs are found in filth, sick and so on. I know we all complain about the pet stores, these dogs come from puppy mills, and that phone number that is in every state, with every breed. It has to stop.

Thanks David for being an advocate.
