Me and Dakota will soon be moving out of my parents house to my new apartment at college in 2 weeks. What should I expect out of her with the move? she is 5 months old
 
Well, I don't really have any experience with this. But my advice is that if its not too long of a drive then I would move all of your stuff first and kind of get unpacked and settled and then go back and make another trip bring Dakota in. This might be easier so you're not in the process of moving furniture around, unpacking big boxes, etc which might be stressful for Dakota. Bring all her familiar things (her bed, crate, etc), and show them to her, and let her explore your new apartment. However supervise her closely as she is still young and you don't want any accidents, especially with the stress and anxiety of being in a new environment. Try to keep the routine as close as possible to what you had while living with your parents regarding feeding/potty time/etc.

We just recently moved from SC to OH with the dogs. I wanted to move everything first (as Whitney recommended) but it just wasn't feasible with the 11 hour drive.

That being said, the dogs did fine. Bentley settled in immediately ("Comfy bed? Okay...I'm good to go"), but Lexi is my sensitive one. She was a little worried at first, but after a few days she settled right in.

The best thing you can do once you get there is to try and maintain the dogs' schedule. Feed them at the same time, etc...routine and consistency helps a lot.
 
I agree with Whitney. Try and move all your stuff and have everything already set up before you bring Dakota to your new apartment. The other thing I recommend is to try to keep a routine. Walk her the same time every day, feed her the same time. If you already have a routine, then just continue it in the new place. Dogs do very well with a routine.

that thread was very helpful. how did all ur pups adjust to the apartment life? dakota doesnt have any puppies at home to play with other than the neighbors puppy that she plays with occasionaly but we have 2 cats at home that she loves to chase and try to get them to play... both the cats are staying with my parents. so i hope she wont be too bored with no other animals. and as far as moving in before i bring her is kind of rough because its not very close but if for some reason two trips need to be made then i will for sure wait to bring her
