my 8year old male almost lame

Oh gosh, don't lift him. Maybe try the sling (look how it is constructed and fashion one with a towel or pillowcase or blanket temporarily). Get help from your wife. Put the dog in a pen with piddle pads and don't worry about the mess.

Don't mess up those rods and screws. Once they go wrong, they can fix them but it usually leaves pain and such. I do neurosurgery transcription for a living, let yourself heal.

Thank You for all your support for Dusty

This morning Dusty had a fever and went back to the vet and blood is being drawn for what I think is a quick screen for Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and other things I can't remember...They are also sending samples to Texas A&M.....gosh, everything is whirling around in my mind on what all was said...I need to start taping our conversations. Dusty will be staying at the vet to be nursed for a few days. Depending on what the screen shows my vet is going to start treatment for what he believes might be wrong. It looks as though we will either find out something treatable (PLEASE PRAY) or if we need to put an end to my friends suffering....I'm crying as I'm typing this, Everything is blurred so sorry for typos. Love you guys, Bruce Karol & Dusty:cry:

Thank you for the current update on Dusty.

Your Dusty has been on my mind off and on all day.

Every time I think of him I say a prayer for restored health.

You and your wife are in my prayers as well.

Continue to update when you are able to. Thanks.

ps Please take care of yourselves, too.

Prayers being sent you way Bruce Karol & Dusty!

It is agonizing not knowing and waiting I know...

Please try to stay strong...

Let us know as soon as you are physically and mentally strong enough to...

For now, we are all pulling for you both and especially Dusty.

Gloria and 'The Boys'! :hugs:fl

Praying for good news on Dusty's health, and that you have an answer soon. Sending hugs and prayers for you and your family too. Stay strong...we'll wait for your update. :hugs

My Dusty is in Heaven

Praying for the outcome I wanted didn't work. At 12:30 August 27th Dusty was put to sleep. My eyes are so blurred I can't see very well so sorry for any mistakes.....For the first time in his 30 years as a vet he had never seen prostate cancer in a neutered dog. The person reading the x-ray could see changes between the one taken 2 weeks ago and the one taken on the 26th. That's how he discovered that cancer had spread from the prostate to his hips and was moving to the front shoulder at an incredibly fast rate.Karol and I want to Thank all of you who were concerned with our little boy. At only 8 years of age we really thought something like this (cancer) was out of the question. As I said before...my vet wasn't really thinking prostate cancer in a neutered dog....but after looking closer and doing an anal exam he started to suspect the worst...he had 3 sets of b-day to view and that cancer had grown all through his hind end working it's way up the spine to the shoulder.
I'm crying too much to continue right now. I HATE CANCER.
Thank You all so very much....we will be looking for a companion for our female Welsh Corgi after Christmas. They were such good friends...it really was a girlfriend-boyfriend....that were just that...Best Friends. Our little Dusty was only a few inches taller than "Kloee" our Corgi so they ran and played together so well...when Dusty was sick laying in his bed Kloee would lick and clean his face
and eyes....I'm sorry need to go.

Oh, I am so sorry. I have lost both dog and family to cancer and I hate that disease too. You have my heart as I read this news.

I am so deeply sorry. May your beloved Dusty be resting in peace...and may in time you and your family find some level of peace in the memories of the good times before Dusty became ill. There never are any words that can be said that lessen the devastating heartbreak of such a loss. I wish there were.

Trini
