My boy has the staggers

In Labs there is a genetic marker for EIC or exercise induced collapse. There are studies under way now to try to find a genetic link in BC's.

I went through this with Holly about a year ago, it was Verdago!! The did all the tests couldn't find anything, the ER told me it was her back and that she needed major back surgery and could also have a brain tumor, took her on Monday to reg vet and he took one look at her and stated this was the case, btw it is very rare that they have more than one bout of this but in her case she had several. Good luck, my thoughts and prayers are with you! Cheryl

I have heard of it in BC, it calls border collie collapse

Dogs on raw food are seems to do better with this, and food high in fat are worst

This sounds like a reasonable diagnosis to pursue. I don't know about raw food as the remedy, but if anything like human's your pup needs to fed and well hydrated before any kind of run in hot weather.

I'm not sure what the best remediy for hypoglyecmic for dogs would be.....

correction- raw food with no carbs is not so good for this type of situation, higher fat and some carbs will be needed if dog is to have high activity in hot and humid weather, of course providing dog is capable of tolerating fats.

Personally, I would not run him anymore, if Charlie was mine.

I think walking him would be enough. Does not seem like he is up for the runs.

You can still run, just not with Charlie.

PS I am not an expert, though.

Please continue to update us on how Charlie is doing. Thanks.
