New Puppy and Many Problems

A little update..

He keeps biting his dad (Milo). When ever he passes by, Fox tries to bite his face.

Then again, when Milo is fetching the ball, and is coming back to me, Fox steps in the way and runs at him trying to bite. Most of the bites are successfull and the result is Milo with less hair, and Fox´s mouth filled with Milo´s Hair.

Shall i continue telling Fox "NO!" while he gets ready and running towards Milo?
It looks like he doesnt listen to me and continues to try to bite him.

On the other hand, Milo does not do anything, he just gets out of the way.

This also happens with feeding time. When Milo gets his food served, Fox comes in, budges Milo out of the way and tries to eat his food. Then again, Milo does not react and just leaves his food bowl alone.

Is their anything i can do? Looks like Fox is really dominant and kind of aggressive. I really don´t want an agressive dog. He turned 2 months old just today (Jan 23 2012)

When I first get my puppy, I put a leash on them right away...I just don't hang on to it for a day or so, so they can get used to the leash. Then I put the loop of the leash through my belt. That way the puppy can't get very far away, and it is easier to catch him before or during his pee or poo in the house. That "Ackkk" noise is one I have used with all my dogs, and they respond faster to it than to a simple "no". It'll just take some time and consistency. Very, very cute puppy, btw.

He's being a baby and has no idea what he is expected to do. Milo will eventually chastise him and teach him to smarten up. Our westie puppies, at that age, had a game with my kids. The kids would step over the gate to the kitchen, run through into the hall, down the long hall we had at the time and out the back door. The object of the game was who can get out the back door without having their shoe laces untied. What is his mother like? Is she a high energy dog? Was he an only puppy or did he have littermates? What was his first 50 days like? All these things can influence the way a puppy is. Use a crate and an ex pen to give Milo a break. Take the puppy out by himself for tolieting and be prepared to wait. Don't grab at him or you might teach him something you really didn't want to. Puppies are a lot of work. Milo might have been easy but most puppies are labor intensive especially when you get them at the age he is. He can't hold himself for long when he is awake so it takes longer to get them housetrained. You'd be amazed at the difference between a 7 week old puppy and a 10 week old puppy. He's coming into a fear imprint stage too that can make or break what he is as an adult. Be patient and it will be a rewarding experience.

Any how, this is a video a took today of theyr "Rough play". The only thing to add to the video that i could not get filmed was that when ever i throw Milo a ball, as soon as he comes back to me, Fox is waiting for him and start running towards him, biting him if he can.

Some Observations:
- At first, Milo just ran away from the pup. Now he actualy opens his mouth at him.

Would this be that Milo is begining to "try" to show Fox who is boss? As soon as this continues, and Fox gets older, Milo will growl or bark at him so he stops and shows some respect?

Or will this scenario just worsen over time?

that is great fun playing in the video- both dogs are play bowing and having a great time:yes:
 
I would be seriously concerned about any adult dog that actually did correct a puppy for any behavior that I saw in that video. Both dog were playing. Milo was coming back for more and playing the catch me if you can game. His body language was relaxed and not worried at all.

I saw several times Fox assume a respectful posture in the video and lots of approiate play requesting behavior.

Truely you have nothing to worry about. :smile2:
 
Awwwwh....puppy play!!! I love it! I ditto everyone's comments. I have been through this scenario 4 times and it's normal. Milo will teach him his boundaries as he gets older.....everything will be fine!!:smile2:
