No puppy for me from this breeder, referred to another one

On our first attempt at adopting a Sheltie, we missed adopting by one on the list. A couple of months later I saw a litter by a very good kennel and contacted the breeder. Willow now owns us and I couldn't imagine any other Sheltie being better than her.

Oh nooooo. Did you tell her she was letting down everyone on SF.

The same thing happened to me with Tully, I was too far down the list for a puppy from the next (and last) litter from the local breeder and all the people waiting before me were show breeders so I wasn't even a priority. Instead I went looking for another puppy and ended up with Deska, my destiny.

(And if you're wondering how I still ended up with Tully, it just happened the runt of her next litter was a crazy high energy small pup that needed an active home more than a show home).

I know a lot of you have been through this, so disappointing! Actually this breeder referred me to two others, I contacted the one expecting three litters, thinking I would have a good chance, and I've been to the website- she has gorgeous dogs. I just contacted her today so I don't expect a call or email tonight. I didn't contact the other one who is expecting a litter in April( that would be ideal). She doesn't have a website and no pictures of the dogs. Should I contact her also? I do trust the breeder with the referrals.

I would contact the other breeder (especially if your breeder recommended her) but make sure you mention to this breeder that you contacted the other one. When I was looking for a puppy (Piper) I contacted all the breeders in the area (I think there are 5) and only one was expecting a litter!

Doesn't hurt to contact them...just tell the other one when you decide who your going with.
Let us know what happens...I'm sure we've all got our fingers crossed!:fl.
Also sending all my prayers for good news!!!

when I got Jocu, I was on a couple lists with different breeders- when I decided on Jocu, I did let everyone know. One of the other breeders still contacted me about a month later to see if I was interested in a puppy from her litter. but I couldn't do 2 puppies at that time......
