I don't know Michelle. I've seen light sables look like that as puppies. Justice's half sister was that light as a baby. She is a golden Sable. No merles in the pedigree anywhere. Jasper's, light color looks like the undercoat. If your seeing different shades in the sable overcoat that's the key. He is really light though and could be. Do you see any patches of darker sable? I wish I had pictures of Pike as a baby. You could see different patches of brown color(3 dark gold patches amoung the light gold) and the tips of some of the guard hairs were white. Some areas had no white tips.
Here is Sunday the golden Sable

and Pike the Sable Merle-no merling on this side.

You can see the base color is really close as adults.
This is a picture of Pike's other side. You can see the merle spot(dark gold) on his side(just behind the shoulder) and his rump(by tail head). It was so much more obvious as a pup.

I put Jasper, down as a strong maybe. So hard to tell in pictures.![]()
His undercoat from what I see is a creamy white. What he has for long guard hairs are so lightmthet they are hardly noticable. With Trapp they really were dark tipped.
I was looking at Trapp at this age,and it was very clear he was going to be a bright pumpkin color, and had those sark areas over his shoudler. Now it is very dark, and of couse his coat has grown substancially.
But Jasper,in those same areas, they are white,as white can be.His tail is very differant as well. All grey & white.
Sunday & Pike are very striking dogs.Thank you for sharing them.Only time will tell, and thats ok.
