Also, Mally has his repeat places he goes potty on walks. That helps too.
 
Lexi has never pooped in the house. Well, she started to once, but we caught her in the act and we took her outside. She's still working on the peeing thing.

Anyways, what has been the key for us has been to NEVER let her out of our sight. It makes for a tiring and stressful day, but Lexi is never not being watched. Even every time she has peed in the house we have been there to correct her and take her outside to finish.

I know it's a huge pain, and my husband and I are slightly exhausted because of it, but we never let her run around and play without being sure that someone is watching her. If they learn that they can poop when you aren't looking and not get in trouble, that's what they'll do. (And they CAN be sneaky!) It's hard when they're playing, I know, but I've seen Lexi play play play OOPS pee. So you really have to watch ALL the time.

I agree that if you know he has to go, it's out for 5-10 minutes of walking (not playing) then back into his crate for 15 minutes, then back out until you have results. Even stopping him mid-poop and allowing him to finish outside gives him the right idea.

Well today so far no poo's in the house! It is the first day we have not cleaned up his mess.

But it has taken like all of you said lots of in and outs.He did spend a fair anount of time being crated though,which I'm sure he was wondering why.

I had a bit of trouble with Trapp,as every time Jasper was crated,Trapp took to whining,as he wanted him out to play.

Hopefully today has been a turning stone.The biggest problem is that I feel he could'nt coorespond going poop outside,and pee to.But after we had results outside,we praised him big time.
I know he's young,but I don't think we had this much problem with Trapp,he seemed to get the pooping outside rather quickly.Peeing was another issue.But we got a good handle on it,much the same way we are treating this.

Hi Michele, just wanted to tell you what really has worked for me. I train my dogs to the commands "go piddle" and "go poop". You can actually use any words you want, some people say "be quick", or whatever is short. When you see him start to go (outdoors), start saying the command, then when it happens, tons of praise and the occasional treat. I also always went out with them and kept saying the commands, to try and avoid them just deciding to play around instead.

Also my girls caught on that the sooner they were done the sooner they got to come back in which is what they wanted.

You may also try using one particular area of your yard instead of the whole yard. Take them to the same spot every time and say your magic words.

I can't tell you how helpful this has been when it's raining, or we are traveling. If we are leaving for an evening out, I can take them outside, tell them to go, and they will at least pee on command. Then I know they are OK in the house for hours.

Mally, also, knows the go pee-pee and go poo-poo comands. If I am in a hurry, going to work, etc. I will say, Mally go pee-pee and he will. We have already gone on a longer walk earlier in the morning, so this is just a go pee-peebefore Mommy goes to work. He knows and will hurry for me. I have a special spot across the street we go to in the morning by a bush.
 
Cranberry is pretty good with the pee command- not so much with the poo command. he does usually tell us that he wants to go out though so not too many accidents in the house :wink2:
 
Michele, Zak did eat his poo (yuck) a few times when he was younger and all of a sudden he stopped. He got over pooping inside rather quickly. We would just make sure we steared him away from it and cleaned up the yard after he pooped.
 
Progress...2 days with no inside poo's!!

I am hoping the little light bulb has turned on inside of his little head.When I got home yesterday at 4pm,Brian had put Jasper in his crate because he was going to bed at 1pm.(works nights)

Brian said he was good all before 1,and he was good last night also.Although he has gained the nickname "digger dog" as we have 5..yes count them 5 new little holes right outside the back steps. I think Trapp is showing him new and productive ways to dig faster!:yes:

He has also found his crates,on his own.Brian said that yesterday he went right in the one in the living room all on his own for a nap.Which is a good thing.

I thought it was gross when Trapp was bringing it to the back steps..lordie me when I saw Jasper eating it I thought I was going to loose it...:no:

The pills that I got in walmart seem to be working,as I saw him do his buiseness yesterday outside,and he did turn to sniff,but walked away.Then I went with the shovel to clean it up.
