People with only 1 dog must be so bored

I just have the one... but soon he'll be living with a huge husky/great pyrenees/saint bernard mix who is like a teddy bear and two cats. I'm hoping for some cat herding.

Its great to read the sheltie tales, funny. Lucky is really spunky for his age, and takes care of Lil' Lady. They are so darn cute together, how they herd this squirrel that loves to torment them is something else. They criss cross and circle trying to catch Rocky.

Last night Lil' Lady was a pain where the sun doesn't shine. She was a demanding little witch barking on the second floor, its time to go to bed, get up here. Then the next morning she bossed the DH around. She didn't want food, or to go outside, just barking at him. She was fine today. Must have had a moment of Her Royal Highness. Lucky does the bobble head thing and I believe he rolls his eyes, as much to say, she is nuts mom.

Entertaining? For sure!!!

I really don't remember what it is like to live with only one dog. I think that would have been around 1975 when I had the Old English. Even then we had cats. Last year, pre Tinsel, we actually were able to rent a cottage and take the 2 dogs with us. We considered ourselves "nearly normal" for the first time as we were like many people and only had 2 dogs, 3 horses, 5 cats and 2 fish. Well, nearly normal anyway. My youngest son is hysterical when he recounts what feeding the dogs looked like when we were still showing and breeding -especially if his friends were complaining about having to feed one or two. By the time he got through the tirade about this dog getting this food, this one needing it soaked, these ones just being weaned, this one on low cal etc, etc and lets not forget the concoction of herbs or other supplements, the type of bowl and so on he always has us all in stitches. It's kind of like watching the movie "Best In Show" with non breeder/ exhibitors. Funny but slightly uncomfortable. Good thing that the dogs provide comic relief which is why we will have more than one for as long as we are able.

lol LOLLL :yuckyuck
please keep going, guys! I want to hear more stories!:pop
Having just one dog is so lonely I live vicariously through you guys and my friend with 9 dogs, lol

Tagg I so wanna hear your son tell the story! It sounds awesome, and I can picture your discomfort... hahah probably cuz it's kinda true!

I am still amazed you could read

I wanna know how you managed that too! With only one I can barely read and do computer work in peace...especially when my 5 yrs old nephew is running around the house driving the dog crazy! But then I do have to admit...when the kids are in school and I'm busy, I really feel for the lonely dog. Very dog needs a buddy to play with.

Oh hilarious:yes::biggrin2: Are all shelties like this in a 'pack'? Bedtime is as you wrote, but we have only three! What gets me is when all three are in the bedroom and I stroke one -out of sight of the others - and like telepathy the other two leap onto the bed and shove their noses under the first one and lift him/her out of the way. One dog = peace, not really

Lol, sounds fun at your place!

The sheltie/lab combo I have here is definitely interesting at times, throw into the mix a siamese cat and well there are days when you don't know who to shout 'Time OUT!' to first!

Of course, it is amusing that Merlin has already outgrown Cadbury and regularly looks at him and then me as if to say, "what is up with that dog?" Sometimes he looks distinctly embarrassed by him.

But then again he does like whacking him on the head with a stuffed toy and Cadbury returns the favour by thumping Merlin on the head with a paw when he is trying to sleep.

Oh, and the one time Cadbury tried to follow Merlin by jumping onto the bed I nearly died from crushing injuries!!

Why would you want a single animal household? Lol!

Love these stories, my two aren't to wild on the bed since Maggie is 15 we have to watch that she does not fall off. Sometimes she and Zak get to mouthing, not to much fussing for positions. Maggie lays against Mark or Zak and Zak usually at my feet or next to my head then he gets on his bed.
It is fun watching them play other wise, could never go back to just one.
