Pico...stealth sheltiecat

So much better in the cabin than down below with the luggage-- how frightening that must be, especially for the first time. Lucky he is small enuf to carry on..I have a friend who flew with his goldendoodle pup but now the dog is to big to fly carryon and he has to go between coasts for extended periods of time-- not sure what will happen.

Honestly I would NEVER pack my dogs into a cargo hold, too many horror stories, plus they would be scared out of their skins. I know people do it, but heck the airlines have screwed up my flights so many times, I can just imagine what might happen to my dogs.... no thanks.

Our first Sheltie, who was inherited from a dying relative, came to us via airfreight in the cargo hold--not only was it a bit of trouble to find and get him at the airport but we had never met him and so were total strangers. I am not sure he ever recovered- first he was taken from his bff human who he had known his whole live-- he was put into a cage by strangers, dropped off/left at an airport and eventually made his way to us-- I still feel for that poor guy. All that turmoil in such a short time, then a new house with new people with new everything... but his bff knew we cared and would take care of him and we did.. and it was that pup that converted us to Shelties forever.

Again to beat this old drum-- I can't imagine what dogs experience living in our world- for cryin our loud we ignore all the most important sounds, are ignorant of the most important smells, we walk on two legs, we have thumbs and hands instead of paws, we are sooooo slow and unmaneuverable, we have rules that go beyond the pale in dog world, we put them in noisy metal boxes toss em around for awhile and when we open the door it is a whole new world. It must be like us being transported to an alternate universe and back almost at random--and for all this topsy turvy world they get food, water and skritches and if they are lucky to sleep on the couch and the bed-- yeah sooo nice. Happy Thanksgiving to all the four leggers out there and of course those less fortunate creatures with only two.

pico has been really good. i’ve had to wake him up in the morning. he does howl if i leave the room
tho. as my aunt says, home is where i am. as long as he is with me he is fine. even if that is in a small carrier at my feet in a plane. pretty humbling

In order to "see" on a tv you have to focus behind the screen and I've heard that dogs are not good at doing that while cats often do-- same is true of relfections in windowns which I think our dogs can see but I am not sure.. a hoot Pico watching the dog show-- OK but where are the smells???? something ain't right here!!!

So has he won everyone over to his fan club yet?
