Pineapple?

Well, Oreo is eating his own poop. I try and catch him as early as I can and clean it immediately but I don't always get there in time. I have read here, as well as other trusted sources (AKC), that feeding a dog pineapple helps with this issue. Oreo is almost 9 weeks old -- can I give him a little crushed pineapple?

On another note Oberon seems to be getting used to Oreo. Our new house rule is that Oberon can approach and sniff Oreo whenever he wants but it is NOT reciprocal!
 
I have heard the same, I never tried it but I did try the stuff you can get in the petstore to put in their food. It did seem to help. A lot of times they grow out of it but not always. Chris had the same issue with her puppy I believe. I can't see where it would hurt to try the pineapple.

Good update on Oberon, I think they will be buddies in time. And now, we need more photos, please!!!

I’ve read that pineapple is ok in small doses because of all the sugar and being a puppy I’d keep it to a minimum. Also because they’re digestive system is very quick I’d purée the pineapple so Oreo gets the maximum benefit from it.
 
Fillion started eating poop at age 9! I was flabbergasted! Trying to figure out what changed in his diet that might have caused it, I realized the answer was nothing. But I had changed my diet--stopped making salads by hand, which meant he wasn't getting zucchini on a daily basis. I saw zukes were second behind pineapple on the poop eating cure. So he's getting some every day. Hope it helps!!
 
Chris did have that issue with her puppy and I believe if you look on her puppy threads, she mentions a supplement that she tried and I believe she saw results with. Do try to nip it in the bud as quickly as you can.... our first doxie was a poop eater and just got worse as he aged - I wish I had had a forum like this one at the time!
 
Zulu is 9 and he still does it. Tried pineapple, just about everything else. I go out with him most of the time and are able to scoop it up before he can get to it. Other times, I tell him I hope you enjoyed that!
 
Our current crew, at over a year old, seems to have stopped snacking on poop- as far as I can tell. Years ago with another batch we tried pineapple and some commercial stuff- the commercial stuff they did not like and left food in the bowl and pineapple, if it helped it did not stop the practice...I wonder if it is because they lack something in their diet- tho it is gross to us it may be beneficial to them the help their microbiome. The last few shelities we have had including the currrent crw have licked the wood stove tiles-- where some ash had spilled out- even tho it was cleaned traces still remained. Also all of our Shelties have insisted on drinking from the water dish beneath one of our larger house plants-- guess the water that passes thru that soil must be the best stuff-- I should bottle it and sell it to pet stores..

I started Asher on Vibrant Pets (Canine Athlete), and it immediately solved the problem. Very rare relapses.
