Pineapple?

Zulu is 9 and he still does it. Tried pineapple, just about everything else. I go out with him most of the time and are able to scoop it up before he can get to it. Other times, I tell him I hope you enjoyed that!

Mine does it in the winter only if I miss one. I see him doing something with the snow and ….
I just don’t get it…he prefers it cold.

After seeing Chris's thread, I tried Vibrant Pets. I had Zulu on Super Snouts for his arthritis, but stopped when I made the switch. It did not stop him from eating poop, but I did notice that his poops were better (no occasional softies). I suspect that the probiotics were the reason. What changed was he stopped jumping on the couch, and he had a very slight limp. The Super Snouts was definitely helping him. Have him back on Super Snouts and will probably put him on a separate probiotic.

Some of mine eat poop no matter what I try…I’ve used Vibrant Pets, probiotics, pineapple, you name it I’ve tried it. In my case I find that my girls who’ve had litters are the poop eaters. I think it’s partly because they clean up their puppies and the habit is formed.

For what it’s worth, Shelties are one of the top breeds listed as poop eaters, sigh. I think the only remedy is me running across the yard in my jammies waving the scooper yelling “NOOO!!! Drop that!” It’s a big hit with the neighbors….

So far the pineapple seems to be working. He gets maybe a teaspoon with his meals 3X a day and for the most part has stopped eating his poop, although there have been a few times where he has. I ordered the Vibrant Pets and it should be here in the next day or two; I'll see how the combination goes. My hope is that if I can break him of the habit early (he's now 9 weeks) it won't be an issue later.

Shelby still eats her poop…..and she is 13. The more you yell drop it and noooooo the faster she eats it .

Now we just follow her around the yard with the shovel, and she is a poop walke so sometimes that means 3 laps around the yard.

Need to market this as a new exercise routine. Call it plop, drop, pickup. It's also a great answer when the Doctor asks you have you exercised like I asked you to?

With Angus I got a tin of chunk pineapple and tossed a chunk in his and one in Spitfire's every day. They loved the pineapple and it was easy.

Right now I'm using crushed pineapple because Oreo is still so young, but he seems to really like it.

Mine were doing the poo munchies this winter but now they are not- yea! Part of it may be they are older, and part of it may be that the heat and low humidity the poo dries out faster and maybe is not so tempting.. whatever I am happy about that.
