Poor babies -- at emergency vet

Morning Update

Just got off the phone with my husband. Dogs are doing well. They are being transferred to our regular vet now--just the one night at the emergency vet was $1300. So yeah, I think we're going to hit our deductible.

They did fine overnight, no issues. I guess they gave them activated charcoal last night and my husband had a panic attack when Enzo pooped out jet black diarrhea. Turns out that's pretty normal.

CUTEST/MOST HEARTWRENCHING STORY EVER:
The techs told my husband that they put the dogs in crates across from each other so they could see each other. This morning, they opened Enzo's crate first and let him out. Apparently the first thing he did was run up to Lexi's crate to check on her. They then opened Lexi's crate and he jumped up in the crate with her. :cry::smile2::hugs I LOVE THESE LITTLE DOGS!

Should have more information once we talk to the regular vet.

What a good boy to check on his big sister. :sadsmile: I know things are tough with the two of them at times but this is absolutely one of the sweetest things I've heard in a while. There is a reason we all love these dogs so much.
 
The charcoal should help their tummies. But you might also want to ask your regular vet about something like Losec or Misoprostal as a preventative for stomach ulcers.

So good you have the pet insurance - if you're going to reach your excess soon you can give them any extra care knowing that it will be covered. And you don't have to sell the house to do it!

How gorgeous he wanted to be with Lexi. Mind you, it's lucky dogs are forgiving. If Lexi didn't get any she'd have every right to be mighty miffed with Enzo.
 
Gosh I am so sorry. Glad the dogs are doing well though. We have had a cat knock pill bottles off before. We also had an aussie eat 2 weeks worth of my husband's vitamin packs. Vet kind of laughed and just made sure there were no human meds in there. I will continue to think of your babies and that all goes well.

Oh Ashley...I am so sorry that happened to you and your babies. I will be thinking about all of you and hope for a good outcome. Please keep us posted on how all of you are doing.
