Prayers for Rocky Please

Yesterday was the worst day for our little family. Our sweet 8.5 year old, Rocky, was taken to the neurologist to examine his lame front leg. The neurologist, Dr. S, did a physical examination and narrowed it down to what most likely is a nerve sheath tumor in Rocky's spine near the neck. She informed us that the prognosis in this case is not good, as surgery is difficult to get clean margins if a tumor is near the spine and recurrence usually almost always occurs. They quickly took him away to run tests and do some lab work. He was about to go in for an MRI, but the scanner was broken, so we left and made the long trip home. The MRI was rescheduled for Monday. Until then, no official diagnosis.

We are devastated and completely heartbroken. We're trying to be hopeful and maybe a miracle will happen, but reality is starting to settle in that this may be our fate... I am in tears as I write this. Rocky is my boy, my first and only child. I will never understand why bad things happen to good dogs, or to any innocent animal for that matter. All we ask is prayers for my sweet boy, we need a miracle to happen...

just a thot

Is there anyway you can get Rocky to an acupuncturist for a 2nd opinion? Sometimes they can offer hope when a conventional approach doesn't.

Yes, I have just reached out to an acupuncturist in my area. She recommended us see a neurologist first before trying alternative treatments. I just e-mailed her back. Thank you for the reminder/suggestion! We also have Rocky booked for hydrotherapy, however, the earliest consult was on June 4th, so we must wait.

I hope the MRI on Monday shows better news. Praying for Rocky.
I have to agree, acupuncture is amazing! It has helped my neck and middle back a lot. Massage just wasn't doing it anymore so I wanted to try a different route. Acupuncturists can help alleviate bulging discs and such. It would be worth a try. Good Luck and please keep up posted.

I am keeping you, your family and sweet Rocky in my prayers.

Note: Also, am praying for that "miracle" from the Lord and am thanking the Lord in advance. Please let us know how Rocky is doing, thanks.

my experience

my son did karate-black belt level stuff. He got hurt very badly. He couldn't open his hand, no pain, it just wouldn't open. We went to ALL the specialists in CO. The neurologists (top in their field) all said, nerve damage, nothing we can do, all western Drs told us, sorry nothing can be done. I said BUNK-mom's don't accept such stuff. We found an acupuncturist from Taiwan, his family has done acupuncture for centuries. He said, hard case, but with treatment hand move again...MRI's, xrays, scopes, costing SO much $$$ and all the EXPERTS in Western medicine could do was say, sorry nerve damage no cure, he will have to live with it, at 15, I said ah NO! For a FRACTION of what was paid to the "specialists" to do NOTHING but tests, my son gained FULL use of his hand.

My bro had a nasty mtc accident...had to have a pin in his ankle. Drs told him to LIVE with the pain from scar tissue, nerve damage, and bone loss, or stay on pain killers. Told him find an acupuncturist, and see. Two treatments, no pain, and the pain never returned.

My point is-Western medicine is good with testing, meds, and surgery. Acupuncture in many cases offers hope and help when conventional stuff can't. A lot of people don't like alternative medicine, I respect that, but in my circle of influence the results for my friends, family and pets, have been amazing!!!

Blessings on Rocky!!

I so hope this initial dx turns out to be a mistake and Monday's MRI shows something far less serious. Many good wishes and prayers coming your way for Rocky and for all the family.
