I feed raw, so the puppy gets the same food Phebe does. He easily switched over to raw the first week I brought him home and we haven't had any digestive upsets. The only precaution I took was to introduce each protein source separately. Now, we switch from beef to fish to lamb to chicken to goat to rabbit, etc. without any worries.

I'm leaning towards Solid Gold for no other reason than I have a vet who says she knows very few dogs who really do great on chicken-based foods. Also, when Lexi was a puppy she had a lot of diarrhea (worse than Enzo). We switched her completely off of anything chicken and it completely cleared up. Both stories anecdotal, obviously. So who knows?

The "Tale of Puppy Food" continues doesn't it? We done so much research before bringing Chip home, we became more confused. Wife and I both cringe at feeding raw. Our collies at home always had plenty of raw to choose from, we lived on a farm. LOL
We have Chip on Iams Puppy with Chicken as the main content, no grain. He is doing great except for eating his poop. Wife gathers constantly. We are considering feeding some Chicken Livers couple times per month. Some folks have had luck with stopping the poo lunches this way.
We bought a bag of Canadae (spelling?) Gradually put small amount into the Iams to see what he would do. Doesn't like at all and will actually leave pieces of it while eating all of the Iams.
Chip is 5 months old now, eats nearly a cup and a half of the kibble per day. He weighs just short of 17 pounds along with slightly over 13" tall. I can still feel his ribs and he is developing an adult dog profile. Also growing "Real" hair down his spine. Beautiful, shiny, wavy, black hair.

I had settled on Canidae, even bought a bag for Toby. Then today found that Blue Wilderness has a bison formula (both puppy & adult versions) and the adult is 30% protein, puppy formula is 32%. I don't know how I missed that. Thinking of exchanging the unopened bag for the Blue.
I read some reviews on both Canidae & Blue - don't know what to believe. I know DogFoodAdvisor gives them both 5 stars. Seeing that Chip doesn't care for the Canidae has me a little concerned that the new puppy won't like it either. I know this is only one pup's reaction. My Toby would eat sawdust if I put it in his bowl, Trace was very picky.
Want to pull my hair out - this shouldn't be so difficult!
Fletcher didn't do well on chicken either, although I bait him without issues now for dog shows using chicken fajita strips. I feed him primarily fish and lamb based kibbles.
Kristie -- These are the first ingredients on the bison Blue Wilderness. Seems like a lot of chickens and turkeys for bison.

We shall see. I also like the slightly (though not excessively large) kibble. The dogs need to CHEW the food and not swallow whole which is what I observed today. We shall see what happens as I transition this week.

We fed our last collie Iams for several years. Her breath got so bad, we had tried most everything to help. Stopped feeding Iams, the breath got a lot better. She had a very sensitive stomach later in life. We changed her to Science Diet for sensitive stomach.
Our breeder had started this litter on Iams puppy formula, gold bag. Decided we should stay with that. Our Vet said their number one choice was Canidae, Iams Puppy Gold was next on their list.
If we had it to do over again we would probably stay with whatever the breeder was feeding.
I know how frustrating this can be. Talk to the breeder, I think that is first step.

BTW: We got some Chicken Livers yesterday. Told my wife he would either bark at it or slurp them up. Only gave him one, he walked to the plate without even smelling as he usually does. You would have thought he knew all along what it was and that he liked it. Almost put the plate back in the cupboard when he finished. LOL We are trying this to see if we can stop the poop eating. Only feeding two twice per month.
