Puppy sheltie shedding?

That's kind of like a zoom groom, except for the fact that it's nothing like a zoom groom! :lol: It's the same idea though. The zoom groom can be used to help lather up a puppy/dog bath or it can be used as a puppy brush.

I've never heard of that before! Just the same it works wonderful.I especially like it because it is very comfy on my hand,not stiff at all.I have seen some others that are very hard and there is no give to them.
 
Maggie is blowing coat right now....amazes me that she has so much undercoat. I gave her a bath yesterday and brushed her before and after and brushed her again last night. Our Katie had a thick coat not long but she blew her coat like clockwork. Maggie for some reason it is only every few years she has a big blow.

I wouldn't give a bath more than 1 monthly, and that's pushing it, IMO. Ever time you bath it washes away the natural oils in their coat, which can lead to itchy skin and a dry coat.

I try not to bath Sadie more than 1 once every 3-4 months if I can. If she gets dirty in between I rinse her dirty parts off with water only, or use oatmeal shampoo only on the dirty spots if her fur is stained (this is rare).

IU'm with Ontario Sheltie here....weekly is too much. In between full baths, I do lots of brushing, and use a "dry shampoo" and leave-in conditioner. Dirty pants get baby wipes and I find that muddy feet only need to be towelled off. Once the mud is dry, it falls off and their paws are sparkling white again!

I am sure S.U.B.U is thanking you as well... Somehow I don't think the founding members are big on the Bath thing either??
I kinda thought I was a horrid Sheltie Mom for not bathing him that much... I did notice that the couple of times I did bathe him it helped the shedding/itching...

I don't bath myself....just too hard on my back. Though I have the equipment to do it in case of emergency. When it's time, every couple of months, I bring the dog to groomer for bath. What I won't do any longer is let them trim their feathers and hocks. They tend to overtrim.

My dogs have never needed to be bathed often. If I was showing it might be different. As long as check under the tail from time to time and pull out any nasties, my dogs are sweet smelling. Still only every couple of months. If they start smelling "DOGGY" then I'll use the dry shampoo on them. But its rare for them to stink.

I know its time for a full bath when Bacca's fur gets that oily feel to it.

For Indy, I know when its bath time when his undercoat as built up beyond my ability to brush it out . The bath helps blow it out.

I don't understand those of you who feel compelled to bath more often. Maybe I'm lucky with my dogs? :confused2:

Ok just reread this and realized that I did not word this well. So I thought maybe some clarification...

I DO actually bath myself...I don't bathe the dogs. Just to be clear.
