Puppy sheltie shedding?

I've fiund that once I started giving puppers a fish oil tab a day,,,the shedding is so much less. It also helps the fur grow back in faster and better

Boys and spayed girls usually blow coats once a year and unspayed girls 2x a year or after a season or after pups or if you just spend a bunch of money on entering a show Sigh.:(

When people ask about the hair issue, I've always commented that other than the one time in the spring, it really isn't a big deal. Especially in comparison to my Mother's short haired dogs. What a mess of short, sticks to everything, hair. I always thought maybe because my pups were climate controlled that was why I only saw a coat blowing in the spring. Either the air or heat is always running in the house. But really it's because they were spayed females that they were only blowing coats once a year. Another good reason to spay if you are not a breeder.:yes:

And I do think the quality of food does help with shedding. I finally convinced my Mom to feed a different food. You can tell it in the amount (or lack thereof) of hair that comes off the dog when you pet her.

And I had to laugh about the hair fairy. I am always commenting that the cleaning fairy, laundry fairy, garden fairy, etc. needs to show up.
 
When I had the Bishon, Spike, he had to be bathed at least once a week. In fact, everytime I took him for a walk (at least daily) I had to rinse off his feet. I guess the curly hair caught up the dirt a lot, because his feet were just filthy. My husband had grown up with mostly poodles and was insistent that he be clean. I used a special dermatalogical shampoo on Spike, because his skin would turn red with the regular shampoo, and I guess the white hair showed the dirt more.

So when we got Buddy, my husband has been continually after me to bathe our sheltie, because he assumed Buddy was as dirty, it just didn't show. When I bathed him this last time, it had been about 3 months since his last bath. I made my husband look at the bath water as I was rinsing Buddy off, he couldn't believe how clean the water looked. I think he's finally realizing how much easier it is to care for a Sheltie.

It kind of bugs me that they keep rating shelties as high maintenance for grooming. When you compare them to a lot of other dogs, shelties are really pretty easy to care for.
