I'm praying for little Maggie

Having a pup come down with Parvo is every dog owner's nightmare. And you have every right to be upset with your vet for dismissing it the first time around.
Thankfully you got her back to the vet asap and hopefully she will pull through.

Please let us know as soon as you hear anything more!

You and Maggie are in our thoughts, Matt. We all know how upsetting it is when a puppy is sick, and we'll be praying that Maggie gets through this. If she's with the vet, she's in good hands and we'll be anxiously awaiting your updates. I'm glad you let the breeder know...any responsible breeder would be very concerned and I'm sure she'll get back to you as soon as she's home. Hang in there and keep us posted when you can.
 
My prayers and thoughts are with you and Maggie too! Poor little thing. I pray that she pulls through. Please keep us all informed.
 
I am so sorry Maggie has Parvo. Hopefully the medication will work quickly and she will be feeling better tomorrow. We worry so much when our furkids are sick especially the little ones.

Oh, I'm so sorry your little pup has Parvo. I'm praying for a quick and complete recovery. My little Meggie sends your little Maggie sheltie kisses!!
 
We called the vet this morning and Maggie is still hanging on, she isn’t doing any better or any worse her fever has dropped though. Going from what we were told yesterday we were hoping for some improvement today but the vet we talked to today told us that it can take any where from 2-4 days to show any sign of improvement. We got an email from the breeder saying that she was not aware of any other puppies being sick and also reminded us Maggie had her Parvo shot along with her other boosters and such on July 27, the day we brought her home. The vet also told us that the Parvo shot takes 7-10 days to start protecting the dog. The vet also told us that puppies should be vaccinated at 5-6 weeks not 8 weeks. Maggie had her checkup and shots Monday afternoon we picked her up at 6pm Monday evening.
That’s very reassuring Crystal1 that your pup came through alright. Maggie was the smallest of the litter, the breeder didn't call her a runt be said that she may be a little undersized which was fine by us.
I still am hoping and praying for Maggie, thank you so much for your support and prayers. I would really like to see her but can't until Tuesday due to the long weekend, this waiting for phone calls and calling at certain times is really driving me nuts.

Oh Matt, my heart goes out to you. Being unable to see your little one must be torture. Is Monday a holiday??

I wonder what the difference is between the smallest dog in a litter and a "runt." My family has always referred to the smallest as the runt, but I'm not sure that's correct. My Meggie was the smallest in her litter and her breeder called her a "little bit." And although she's on the smaller side of standard, she did reach the Sheltie standard for height. She's about 14".

I'm hoping little Maggie is determined to get better and literally fights for her life. Bless her heart, and yours!
 
Oh, that is too bad. I was so hoping for better news, but at least she is holding her own and not getting worse. It must be so hard not to be able to be there for her and comfort her a bit. I will keep praying for her.
