Sadie is suddenly paralyzed

Way to go, Sadie!

I already know from your photos that Sadie might be part fish, but I still love how relaxed and happy she looks in the water. On the treadmill, she's like "Oh, this? I do this sort of thing all the time!" It just cracks me up - and makes me so happy, because she's doing so well.

Well she didn't look like that the first two times I brought her for therapy. She gave me the most pitiful, pained and terrified look when the treadmill enclosure started to gurgle and fill with water. You would have thought that I'd put her in some kind of water torture chamber.

But yes, she really enjoys the water so once she realized that she wasn't going to be killed, she eventually relaxed and started to have fun.

She's very demanding in the pool when I don't throw the ball fast enough. :smile2:

That is SO cool! It's amazing how happy she looks to be there. You've really done a great job getting her better, Melissa. Bravo!! :biggrin2:

Sadie's Rehab has one small negative...

Friends of mine with dogs occasionally invites us over to go in their hot tub. We visit them regularly but haven't actually gone hot-tubing in approx. a year. While we're in the hot tub the dogs are all usually running around playing and we'll throw a ball occasionally.

But what does Sadie do now? Now when she sees us in the hot tub, she grabs her ball and tries to jump in the water with us! She fell in once before a long time ago but must not remember how hot the water is. All she sees now is a mini pool of fun that she can swim in with her ball.

Hahaha! Well, at least you know that she really enjoyed her rehab work!

Coming very late to the thread!! I am reading through and crying. Glad to get to the end and see how well she is doing:smile2:

Last Wednesday was the one year anniversary of Sadie's spinal stroke. It was such a nightmare and so traumatic that I have trouble thinking about those days, even now. Its a chapter in my life I would like to close and never look back on.

Perhaps one of the moderators would like to close this thread once and for all.

That being said, I'm so grateful to still have my Sadie girl with me and that she's made such good progress. I still get choked up when I see her running, jumping and playing.

Sadie is the same today and VERY scared. No luck in helping her potty yet. She must have to really go but is just so scared, she keeps shaking and she's not normally a timid dog.

Going to just show up at the vets office now. Will let you know what she says.
