Does your dog shadow you?

Bailey follows me everywhere. She loves the boys and DH, but she clearly is my girl. Not surprising, since I'm the one who's home during the day.

But my Lab, Mitsy, will happily snooze on the sofa in the family room while I do stuff during the day. If I'm sitting, Mitsy will want to be on my lap...

...Bailey, however, will get up and follow me everywhere, any time for however long I'm doing something. Even if I go into the study for a minute, she'll get up again and shadow me. She even sleeps on the floor on my side of the bed (on a dog bed). Outside when playing, she always comes when I call her.

I love her to bits. She is such a sweet, loving and loyal dog; it's so great to have this bond.
 
I think dogs generally attach themselves to one or two people. Laika follows me everywhere, all the time. Aztec follows my younger sister the majority of the time.
 
90% of the time Sadie is by my side, although she's become a bit more independant as she's gotten older. Either that or she's realized I'm boring :winkgrin:
 
Caliber is wherever I am. Plain and simple. I can do as little as get up from my computer chair, and go to the bathroom, and he gets up to follow me. I go back to the computer, he lays right back down where he was before he got up. If I'm in the kitchen cooking, he'll even do as much as follow me from the fridge to he stove. Silly man. He sleeps with me and my b/f on the bed(of course RIGHT in between us...he must remind Daddy that his cuddling privileges are over once he wedges himself between us, pushes him over an all!) I love how we have the bond, but the extreme close shadowing I could live without some days(mostly on my bad/grumpy days). He's better when we're outside...he'll run off and do his own thing(always comes back when he's called tho) and is great on hikes...he usually falls back and sticks close when he's gotten a bit tired. I think he could have a BIT more independence, but I think that's my fault. He's been with me everywhere but work since the day I got him..but if I coudl do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing!

Oh yes, pups follow me from room to room. Like Taralyn, if I'm on the computer and get up to get something in the kitcen, both boys jump up, follow me, sit down then trail along behind me back to the computer room.

I keep telling the silly boys to stay put because I'm going right back....but do you think they would listen! :wink2: Instead the mad scramble to get right behind me.

Sometimes I try to sneak past them....but they always hear me!

The only time they aren't shadowing me is when they are shadowing each other!
 
shelly is the same way with me. if my wife is home and im not she follows her. she is a little better now since she turned 2 but still follows me most of the time wer ever i go.
 
Aonghus is exactly the same! He follows me EVERYWHERE. I remember, when I was in high school one of our other shelties, Fonzie (ok, I know, I'm giving away my age here) used to follow my mom constantly, he even went to work with her and when the boss "fired" him my mom threatened to quit and the boss had to "rehire" the dog! lol!! :lol:
 
There is a hilarious clip on Youtube on what shelties do when you leave. In the clip the eight or so shelties just sit at the door waiting for the owner to come back. It is soo Sheltie, I swear mine do the same thing. Gosh who can even shut a bathroom door when you have a sheltie - its torture for them.
 
Thanks to Layla the LifeGuard, I need never fear falling into the toilet and drowning. :lol: I also have companionship when I do laundry -- everyone else in the house flees! When she comes to work with me, she's glued to my side unless she hears a lecture going in the auditorium -- then she wants to stroll in and see what's up (AUGH!!!!!:eek2:). At night, though, she sometimes decides to "camp out" on Auntie Kitt's bed, especially if Annie Laurie is sleeping sideways!
