I thought it would be interesting to collect data on our shelties height/weight at 5 months, 6 months and also at maturity. The purpose being to help new owners determine what size their shelties could mature at once they hit the 5 and 6 month marks. Obviously different lines grow and stop growing at different rates, but maybe with enough data we could compile averages. My first sheltie chase was 14 inches/13 pounds at 5 months, 14.5 inches/14.5 pounds at 6 months, and 15.5 inches/21 pounds at maturity. My current Jake is only 20 weeks, but he is already 14.75 inches/18.6 pounds.

Thank you. I always wonder if mine is underweight. I enjoy all the threads in this forum though I haven't posted/replied one. It would be interesting to see how other shelties weigh. My loved one is 16", only 17.5 pounds.

Oh man, I'm afraid I'm going to end up with a giant. Cinna at 12 weeks was around 13 pounds. At 15 weeks was 17 pounds (14 inches) and now at 19 weeks is 22 pounds. Haven't measured height lately. He is not overweight, has a nice tuck and his ribs are easily felt.

Generally rule of thumb is size at 6 months add an inch that will be their finished size. Now granted these are shelties so some of them don't go by the book but that is the general.

It is impossible to make a chart by weight as there are too many variables such as Bone and body makeup.

Hartley turned 5 mos. yesterday and is 12 1/2 inches and weighs 13.2 lbs. Here is a pic from last week his latest trick is jumping on the coffee table. :gaah

Maggie was the smallest in her litter. I'll have to look up her weight back then but at age 24 months she now weighs 20 pounds. She had a bit of a spurt a few months ago and has filled out nicely. She went from a jumpy, fragile pup to a strong, solid little girl.

I've never heard that--but it was true for Lexi! She was 14" and 12 lbs. at 6 months old, and is now 15.5" (full grown).
