Sheltie height/weight at 5, 6 months and maturity.

Hartley turned 5 mos. yesterday and is 12 1/2 inches and weighs 13.2 lbs. Here is a pic from last week his latest trick is jumping on the coffee table.

The problem is your coffee table is in such an inviting spot. Birch thought about jumping on it while he was there. He must have given Hartley the idea.

Ember didn't listen to the 1" rule after 6 months. She never grew a bit after 6 months. She was 13 1/4" and 11lbs then and 13 1/3" and 13lbs now.

Just checked Birch didn't listen either he was 14 7/8 " at 6 months and 20 lbs, he is now 16 1/2" and 25-6 lbs

Thank you. I always wonder if mine is underweight. I enjoy all the threads in this forum though I haven't posted/replied one. It would be interesting to see how other shelties weigh. My loved one is 16", only 17.5 pounds.

There is a spreadsheet with many of the shelties from this forum so you can check the weight of shelties of a similar height (keeping in mind height and bone will account for some differences). As a matter of interest, the median height for a sheltie is 15.94" and median weight is 21lbs or 9.53kg.

If you want to add your sheltie just put him on the bottom - if you do a sort remember to not include the first 3 lines otherwise it mucks up the ave and median (or you can PM me and I can sort it or fix any mistakes).

Jake is 22 weeks today and he stands 15.75 inches and tips the scale at 20.5 pounds. I feel like he'll probably hit 18 inches... but if he doesn't stop growing a half inch per week he could shoot past that. He's also been losing teeth left and right... funny to watch them twitch ther mouth when a tooth is loose like they have no idea what is going on.

so while reviewing Cran's puppy thread for house/crate training tips and timelines, I actually found some height/weights.

so at close to 3 months, Cran was 10.5 inches and 8 lbs.
at about 5.5 months, Cran was about 15.25 inches and 19.4 lbs.

now at about 2.5 yrs, Cran is 17.75-18 inches and 28 lbs.

Acie is now 5 months old (will be 24 weeks old tomorrow 9/24/2012) She's at 12 1/2 tall, and 14.2 pounds. Is that a good weight or does she need to lose? I think she's been looking a lil chunky the last couple weeks.

Quick update - At 26 Weeks Jake was 16.75 inches and just under 24 pounds. On Wednesday, at 29 weeks, he was 17.25 inches and a shade under 26 pounds. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of further growth but he doesn't seem to be slowing.

we got Gizmo at 6 months so i dont know his size before then. but he didnt grow much after we got him. he is BARELY 13 inches and 12lbs.

For the person worried about the chunkiness of your puppy, my understanding is that it's not as much of a concern when they are really young. They are still growing into their bodies and may fill out/stretch out. But if you are really concerned and notice that your pup's weight seems high compared with this spreadsheet you may want to talk to a vet about it just to make sure everything is OK. It is hard to say online whether a dog is overweight because the best indicators really come from whether you can feel a dog's ribs, etc. You have to have your hands in the dog's coat. However, I think there are some Sheltie Forums threads about this and you can also read up on it in other places online.

Your puppy is about the same height/weight as my dog Buffy and the vet says she is at a healthy weight. It does depend on how your dog is built though.
