Sheltie Quirks

I'm sure everyone's sheltie has some funny quirk that seems entirely their own. Why not share them!

3 Quirks of Sadie's really stand out in my mind

Sadie is a fuzz eater, if she finds a fuzz ball or dust bunny anywhere she cannnot resist eating it. At least once a day we'll either catch her in the act of eating fuzz or she'll look at us very innocently with a big fuzz ball hanging out of her mouth :lol:

Another funny quirk of hers is that when she's really excited, she starts throwing shoes. This happens the most often when we've come home from work. It doesn't matter where she is, upstairs, in the basement or outside, she'll come in, run to the front door and start whipping shoes in the air. :lol:

Sadie likes to pee every two hours. It was every hour till she was 6 months old. If she didn't get her way she'd pee on the floor (and still will when we're not at home). Took us a while to realize that she had us wrapped around her paw. Now we're usually able to stretch it out to 4-5 but she still wants out every two. :rolleyes2:

Aztec has many little quirks. Some of them I thought were things only he did, but later found out many shelties do things like them...

1. He is a lotion/perfume licker. He can not resist you if you have put on anything that has a good smell. He follows you around licking his lips (Actually a little scary :lol:

)

2. When he gets frustrated/angry, he turns tight circles, chasing his tail and growls. Why he expresses his frustration this way I don't know.

3. When he does "lay down", he practically leaps. Either that or he will go down into a play bow, and then plunk his butt down. Anyways, it always looks kind of odd.

4. When he smells something intently he puffs his cheeks in and out, and whenever he is getting ready to go to sleep he sighs really loud.

I didn't realize that some of these are sheltie things! Sadie also loves to lick lotion, puffs her cheeks when she smells something intently and lets out HUGE sighs right before falling asleep :lol:

Sammie was a cover biter. He didn't chew or damage the sheets/blankets in any way, but when he got in the bed with you he would calmly bite the covers.

For Max
1. Same
2. Looks you in the face & barks when he's angry
3. His trainer called his down "the plop". :lol:

4. His sleepy noise is more of an old man grunt than a sigh.

For bandit
1. he loves to lick perfume, lotion, bodywash, make-up
2. he loves chasing his tail, its an everyday thing for him
3. he loves to circle me when im sitting on the floor.

Barkley hates it when we put a new plastic bag in the trash can. He barks at it, then once it's in the trash can he attacks the edge that's hanging over and chews on it.

Ivy always has to clean her fur after she eats. She does this by rubbing herself all along the furniture...preferably, a nice, long couch that's a light color! :eek2:

Pixie insists that she has to go out right after her dinner, our dinner, and their evening treats. Then she stands on the porch and barks to incite all the dogs in the neighborhood until they are all barking. It's like the puppy party line! :lol:

When it is time to eat Aztec also runs circles around the dining room table barking until I feed him. I think shelties are absolutely circle obsessed!

This is hilarious.

Koji definitely likes to lick lotion too. ew!

Let's see, for Koji
1. barks at me when I stretch (quads, lunges, etc). Weird! And it's not a play bark. Something I'm doing is freaking him out.
2. When he wakes up, he'll stretch the front (bow), then stretch the back, then lick me if I'm close enough. Strange little guy.
3. Definitely does the circles when he's bored or excited.
4. He needs to make at least 3 circles before he lies down, then does the heavy sigh, lol

For Miko - definitely not as neurotic as Koji
1. When he chews up things he shouldn't, he won't eat it (i.e. he chewed up my entire car registration. I found all the pieces but one very tiny tiny piece. (Koji will chew, then eat it. Obviously, I worry much more about him.)
2. Miko doesn't really whine. He chuffs.
3. Miko likes to lean against things when he lies down. The warmer the better aka human.
4. Miko doesn't like to get his fur messed up, people call him Fabio. lol
5. Lastly, Miko is a BIG ham. He will pose for the camera, and will move even the slightest bit if I instruct him to. Seriously a Fabio.

I totally forgot about the barking at exercising thing! Max barks at Cindy if she does crunches. And I also have video of Max doing the whole stretch thing. The back stretch is the best. He drags his legs like they're dead planks. :lol:
