Sheltie Quirks

and Ice from my fridge they think that filet mignon comes out of there I swear you hit the ice button and they all come running for crushed ice....

WOW. Those are all quirks that describe Bailey to a "T"!!! I'd forgotten to mention them, but they are all so true!! And I didn't have a cold when I brought Bailey home so I can't use that as an explanation for the barking at every sneeze and cough....:winkgrin:
 
Caliber does a lot of what has already been mentioned...the lotion, coming to me when I sneeze(but it's only with me - never anyone else) cheeks going when he is sniffing.

One thing he does when playing fetch is this: if you throw it off the bed, he'll go get it, run, jump up on the bed, but instead of just jumping up and just coming over he jumps on the bed, and then does an extra hop in the air, THEN brings it over to you. I'll have to get it on video and post it...it's hard to picture with just the words.

Another thing he does is he will chew on the cats head...that's an everyday occurrence.

Oh...he spazzes out every few days and he's just run REALLY tight circles around whatever coffee table he can. It's usually around my sisters coffee table, but he just does it out of nowhere. He'll be calm one minute, and then next you've got a sable blur around the coffee table!

He chews labels off of everything. He will move a toy around until he finds the label and he'll chew it until it's off.

The one that really sticks out in my mind tho is the fact that he will gather up toys...as many as he can..........I'm even talking CAT toys, on top of his, and he will place them in an almost perfect circle around my computer chair. I look down and I have like 12 toys around my chair! :eek2:

It's not a quirk of Calibers, but I find it SO odd. It's something that I have thought about teaching Caliber to help me out with lol Anytime I leave the house...my first cat...he will find a piece of clothing, and he will drag it and meow with it in his mouth...aaaaall the way to the door, and drop it. He'll go back, find another piece...and do it over and over again. I come home and I find 5 pieces of clothing at my door! Thought I could teach caliber to put the clothes back! Boy - woudln't that be nice! LOL Anyone else experience this?

Can't think of anything else - but I'll remember more once he's awake! LOL
 
I just remembered another one...every time Laika yelps (Which is a bit, she is really sensitive. She also yelps every time she doesn't want to do something, because she learned people would generally stop what they were doing if she yelped) But Aztec thinks everytime she yelps he has a fatal wound. He gets suddenly solemn and comes over to you looking all upset and injured. Wagging his tail really slowly. I have no idea why he thinks he was the one hurt, everything always has to be about him :biggrin2:
 
I don't know. Reading all about our Sheltie's quirks - and how much we seem to enjoy watching and listening to most of them - I don't know if we're all crazy or we simply love them so much we'd put up with anything.:rolleyes2:
 
Crazy does alot of what everyone else has mentioned too. His big thing is barking, no steak could tempt him out of a good barking session. He knows when the neighbor will get home and let her dogs out so he will bug the heck out of me to let him into the yard so he can BARK. Got to love a Sheltie

Marlie is like Ginger when I get home, she almost bends herself in half wagging her tail! She also has to mouth my hand as if to say that I've been gone to long. Rasha does the stretch ever time you talk to her. Not sure why but she does! She will bark forever at you when you get home, almost like she is telling you about her day. She will also rub her face down the couch and the loveseat after she has eaten! Brat!! :winkgrin:

Sadie does the stretching thing also! Its so strange, I've always wondered what it means.
 
This must be hilarious to see !

8) And the most shameful quirk of all....my teenage son has been known to bring pot into the house (despite my ongoing prohibition ). Bacca has a particular appetite for it, and can smell it a mile away. Yes, I've come home from work to find Bacca totally stoned, flaked out in the backyard and staring at the clouds! Just dreaming away! Then he's ravenously hunger later. Truly! Yes, my dog is a pothead!

Barb, hopefully he doesn't get into it very often because he's going to develop a weight problem. :uhoh:
 
Kias quirks

1. She just must be in the same room with you if you are going to shower.:rolleyes2:
2. She just does the Sheltie dance when you get home. Then just about cries because she doesn't know what to do with her self. Wiggle butt, lets see if I sit they will pat me , Belly rubs, please!! Run to next person if they don't pat then on to the next. Then back to the forgetful one. They are a hoot aren't they.:lol:
3. Lotion and perfume licker as well. But I try to stop that because I know a dog that got poisoned fron the cologne.:eek2:
4. When she wants a treat she will stand at the foot of the recliner and just place her head on the footrest and stare, until she gets her treat.
5. If she sees you get out the brush, trimmers or shampoo, Gone out of here! usually hiding behind the recliner or in her crate. She pretends to be sleeping , like thats going to change things.:lol:

Just thought of another quirk....

If I'm in my office working, whenever the pups want something: walk, cookie, go outside to play, Bacca always comes in first and puts his head on my lap and whimpers beautifully. Indy hangs outside the office door, letting Bacca do the dirty work....as soon as I get up, he leads the charge to whatever it is they want. You can almost hear the conversation: "OK, Bacca - we want cookies, right? So you go ask Mom, and don't forget to be cute!":smile2:
 
They are funny!!

How can you resist those gorgeous faces, which just scream cuteness here !!:lol: They do know how to get their way don't they.
