My mom's dog Chaz was like that. He hated his baths and everytime she'd say it was time for a bath he'd go into hiding. So she started spelling it and he learned that too and would go into hiding when she spelled it out LOL
 
Yes, we did the spelling thing with Jewel when she was with us. Who would have known they could learn to spell as well !:lol:
 
Another one that used to have to spell words, I don't think I ever appreciated just how clever Ailsa was until we got Arran :rolleyes2:, Abby is not to bad but I don't think her previous owners taught her much of anything :no:.

Yep, my shelties are like mini furry people. Sometimes I think they are training me. I have a border collie too, but I think one of my shelties is even smarter than the BC...the other is smart but stubborn.
 
Shelties Rule !!

I agree with you Tim and Blacknblue. Shelties are by far more intelligent than the breeds listed above them on that list. Thats why we are owned by Shelties ! They're not foolish they know how to exactly train us to their likeing.:lol:
 
Very smart little dogs

They are like little people, that's why I don't have kids. I have 2 and want more. And you have to spell everything out, ball, walk, bye bye those words will set them off. Maggy is a barker and Katy is a whiner, she hardly ever barks. Weird I know. But I don't leash them in our yard and they stay right with me and in their yard. People always say how good they are. But I exposed them to a lot of stuff when little. It was easy, we lived in Germany, dogs go everywhere. They are super easy to train, and new routines are established in 2 days usually. Very adaptable. My shelties I had growing up were not as intelligent as my two I have now. I feel very lucky. I would love to rescue one and let her live as my girls do. They would train her very well. They trained me!:lol:
 
Spelling Words

LOL, LMAO @ Shelties understanding words spelled aloud!

Practically all of the training manuals state that a dog's vocabulary can be broadened greatly. Wonder if they can conjugate verbs, LOL!:biggrin2:
