Snoring plus a rant

Only Bitsy gets all she wants, and that's because her slow lymphoma makes it hard to keep weight on and energy up. Beckon (aka Colonel Underpants) gets two cups a day, but that's because he's 19 inches and a working farm boy. Layla self-limits -- between a cup a day and a half a cup.

My husband is a food enabler as well LOL. I wondered why mu hyperactive puppy liked to visit his studio (he is an artist) and lie calmly in the small space--well I found cheese, bread, treats, and kibble all up on the table next to his easel where he apparently just constantly gives little bits to Beau, who is now overweight. :depressed:

Beau only gets 3/4 C of kibble (3/8 morning, 3/8 evening) a day but he gets at least one frozen Kong filled with non-fat plain yogurt & fruit/veggies when I go to work. And he is on lots of positive training which means treats of some sort (varied with green beans, chicken, low-fat cheese, etc). But still he is overweight, I cannot feel his ribs as clearly as I should. He was actually doing better on the lower protein kibble than on his current one--on this one he gained weight even though the suggested serving is much higher than he is getting.

My trainer told me it's actually the backbone you want to be able to feel (and on Piper I can't feel his backbone but I can feel his ribs with slight pressure) and I tend to agree because Piper is definitely overweight but if I went by his ribs I could convince myself that he isn't lol.

Do you try to feel the backbone all the way down? Also is it with small pressure or without? Beau's backbone seems to be about like his ribs, I can feel but it requires a bit of pressure.

Wow, I knew about the ribs, but not about the backbone. I can't tell where Kota's back bone, should bone and hips are. Thats how chunky she is. And those two lumps I was talking about on her hips, vet says they are probably fatty mass built.
Kota loves the green beans, especially frozen... Than again, she likes anything I give her. Lol. It has been cold outside amd was raining. Kota n I did stairs.( I had to use her leash because she will take her time going up the stairs.) We've also started going to the park n walking around.
Mainly go for mishka because she is a ball of energy. Oh and kota is a cougar. 7 month Brittany can't get enough of her. Mounting even after both me n his mom intervien. But I tend to let the owner of the Brittany go to stop them, because when kota sees someone going to her, she bolts and doubles her exercise. ( I know its going to bite me in the rear end later,) but I need her weight under control.

Stairs are a great idea, I do those with mango on the really cold days when we can't get outside. It's great that what's good for our dogs is also good for us (or at least that's what I tell myself when I'm running:whistle:
). I do like the fact that I tend to add more vegetables to food just so I have heathy things to share with the puppies while.eating.

We give Zulu unsalted cut green beans as a treat. They have almost zero calories, and he loves them. Neither one of my Shelties snored. When I was a kid, we had a doxie that would sleep on his back and snore!
Fresh green beans are one of the few vegetables Spirit will eat - sometimes. Skylar, on the other hand, will eat anything. Literally. Anything. ANYTHING!
