I was trying to find an old thread that someone started some time ago,but could'nt locate it.

There have been so many new folks recently.I sometimes,(and I'm sure many of us do)wonder what is behind the sheltie that brought you here in the first place.

Although I have not met alot of folks here in person,those that I have met,are pretty much like I visioned they would look like in person. And so many of us have such interesting jobs,hobbies.

How about sharing a little bit about yourselves..pictures would be awesome if you like.
 
This will be a really nice thread....it is always interesting to learn more about others!

I guess I'll start by saying I'm 25 years old - I was born in Calgary, Canada but grew up in S Wales and recently (well 3 years ago) moved back to Calgary for work. I work as a Geologist in the oil and gas industry...a job that I love!

I also love to play soccer although my skills leave alot to be desired. :lol: Lastly I love to paint but unfortunately I haven't seemed to have much time to devote to it recently.

I am a transplant from upstate NY,moving to SC 7 years ago. I am a decorative artist,been painting since 1989.

I mainly now focus now on gourds.My specialty is purses & carving,and pyro work on gourds.

Prior to moving here,I worked in retail,mostly in grocery.I have many years experiance in bakery,and also in management.(bakery)

Since moving here,I do have a small business here at home,as I continue to bake for so many people.
I do work part time as a hostess at a small resturant in town.Which gives me the oppourtunity to be out in the public,which is my comfort zone.

What a great thread to start.

There are definitely a lot of new folks that have such wonderful stories to share.

I live in NJ. I have two Shelties Chloe (2 years) and Dandie (1 year). I also "share" a rescue Vinca (5 years) with my mom who lives next door. I have always had a Sheltie since I was 14 years old. They are wonderful. My Shelties live with 4 guinea pigs, 1 cat, and 3 goats. Dandie has done two commercials in her short life, one for Febreeze and one for The Children's Place. Chloe is a TDI registered Therapy Dog and visits a local Nursing Home. My goat, Tiger, filmed a scene in the upcoming "Smurfs" movie that will be out next summer. Gargamel and his cat Azarel get a spell put on them and they turn into goats. Tiger is Azarel :-) My dogs have also been in the movie In Her Shoes (not the two I have now) and filmed for SNL skits. They are SO much fun.

My name is Ashley, and I'm originally from Virginia. I got my first sheltie when I was in 5th grade, and I have been hooked every since.

I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2007, and am currently living in Charleston, SC with my husband (coming up on our 1 year anniversary!), maine coon cat, and our 2 shelties, Bentley and Lexi.

We're currently competing in agility with Bentley, and will with Lexi as soon as she is old enough.

I'm about to finish my Masters in Business in December, and my husband is graduating from Dental school in May. After that, we'll be moving out of SC, possibly to NC, VA or OH.

Here's a picture of me and my DH, and then me with the pups :)

Could these dogs be squeezed any harder? lol and as you know I think you two are just the CUTEST couple ever :) Especially since you are both handling the dogs for Agility, a GREAT hobby to share!
 
Toffee is my first Sheltie, but I have had dogs before such as Boxers, German Shepherds and also a Terrier mix as a child. However, before Toffee I was without a dog for over ten years as my Ex didn't like Dogs, which should have been my first clue! lol :yes: :rolleyes2:

Toffee was my break up dog and gift to myself from myself for leaving him! lol It was THE best thing I ever did :winkgrin:
I work for a National Bank and I had immigrated to Canada from Germany many moons ago, and can't envision living anywhere else, I love Canada and the East Coast especially. Back then I used to do a little tracking and protection work, with my German Shepherd. Toffee and are a brand new Agility team and need to learn so much!! Who knows I may be able to enter into a few trials in the next year. I wouldn't have thought about it on how to get started for real if it weren't for this Forum :o Thanks to all!!

Well about me, I'm Sophie work as a full-time writer and have Cadbury the nearly 3 years old chocolate labrador. He was my first ever dog and a childhood dream come true.:biggrin2:

Sheltie pup is due early next year and will follow Cadbury into obedience and agility. I dream one day of being on Crufts.

My brother is an aspiring sheep farmer and has a small flock (that keeps growing) and is talking of pigs and chickens. I'm waiting for that big book deal to come in so that I can buy my dream house in the country with room for my very own agility course.

Oh and I am a born and bred Suffolk lass, that's on the East coast of England, in fact I live in the most Easterly town in the country. And we are not to be confused with Norfolk, with whom we as a county have a long-standing, but fairly civil, feud running:uhoh:
