Steel, ceramic or plastic!?

Food bowls are washed either by hand or in the dishwasher after every meal. Water bowl goes in the dishwasher every night.
 
Food dishes are washed after every meal, but I probably don't thoroughly wash the water dishes enough. I guess I tend to think "it's only water".

I think what I need is a double set for both pups - so 8 dishes in all - so I can continuously cycle through the dishwasher.

Okay for all you stainless steel fans maybe you can help me out here. Do any of you have HEAVY bowls? I have a ceramic for water in Koji's crate. It's the ONLY bowl he hasn't tipped over. I even had a stainless steel bowl that looks like this: Water Bowl, but he figured out how to tip it. It doesn't say Stud on it either. LOL.

I'm thinking about going back to stainless. Although they have ceramic in the kitchen, seriously, they both will go into the bedroom and drink out the stainless in there. I'm assuming it is either colder or taste better? It's all very weird. And at our last house, they'd literally go upstairs to drink. So weird. After moving, Miko won't even drink out of the ceramic bowl (and I washed it thoroughly). No idea what is going on. He'll eat out of the other ceramic bowl, but will then proceed to the bedroom and drink out of the stainless. Thoughts on that?

With the one shown above, Koji would flip it and chew on the plastic (however, this was when he was a puppy, maybe he won't anymore).

That one looks like it would be hard to tip over, so it's probably your best bet for a stainless steel bowl.

Bailey used to tip her puppy stainless steel bowls over too. That's why I switched to ceramic.

Now that she's older, I went back to stainless and got her these ones: http://www.petco.com/product/105706...Bowl.aspx?CoreCat=DogSFC_BowlsFeedersWaterers
She hasn't tried to tip this over yet and we've been using it for about 2 weeks.

Sca could tip that as it is to light, he loves to nose surf. I got something larger and heavier and try to add a bunch of water so it is hard to nose surf
