We are taking Grizz and Jaime for a herding instinct exam to see if they have what it takes to do herding. Grizz is 2.5 yrs old and Jaime is 17 months. Either one was ever seen sheep before.

I never got to go with Diva and this is different place which was recommended to be more understanding of shelties. Diva will go there when she is off her break.

I am hoping to get some video to share. I really don't know what to expect. I think Grizz will do ok but I don't know about Jaime. Jaime has always seemed like a follower. Both are from total conformation lines, unlike Diva. It should be fun.:smile2:
 
How fun, I can't wait to hear all about and of course see pictures. Very nice that you found a place more understanding of shelties.

The boys didn't do too bad. I was mistaken it wasn't a formal test but more like an evaluation to see how they were with the sheep for the lessons.

Jaime was very interested. He barked at the sheep at first and looked like he wanted to move them around but he was not too sure. Then a scary tractor drove by and he wanted a break. Second time in we got him to move the sheep around for a couple seconds. Other then that he just followed us around. The thought is he'll do ok once his confidense comes up.

Grizz. :rolleyes2: Well Grizz was really more interested in the sable girl who was there then the sheep. He was into peeing on the fences and sticking his head though the fence to talk to her during his first turn. We gave him a break and after a bit of work he got focused on the sheep and then did really well. Though he was still stealing glaces at the girl. Boys!:lol: Macho show off. You can see him in the video looking towards the girl.

Enjoy. I guess they let Grizz chase the sheep a bit more then we would have otherwise since it took him so long to get focused.

What fun! They must be pretty wiped out tonight?

I had to watch the puppies first time out of the box as well...they are adorable!!!
 
That was great! I love Jamie's prance and Grizz is such a show off. So funny I could see him checking out the Sable Sheltie everytime he went around. Looks like a fun day so glad you got it on video.
