The irresistible draw of Kleenex

I have never used one, but I believe Citronella collars basically spray citrus spray in the dogs face if they bark, I think, because they don't like the smell of citrus.

For shoelaces I use Tabasco sauce (turns the laces orange). Pet stores also sell products that are not harmful but taste terrible and don't stain. The problem with all these things is they don't last long, you have to keep reapplying.

Beware the tabasco sauce, though! I used it successfully on Neechee when he was younger, but after my parents kept him for a weekend, it suddenly stopped working. I eventually found out that my dad had been feeding Neechee tortilla chips and picante sauce! Turns out the little bruiser developed a love for hot peppers.

All I can say is this: you just have not experienced life if you've never slept in the same room as a small picante-gas spewing dog!

I caught Toby stealing used kleenex off of my night table a couple of times when we first got him.

The look he'd get on his face was hysterical, I was never able to stay angry at the shredded mess. Plus it was my fault for not disposing of them as soon as I woke up.

He used to steal them out of garbage cans too, till we bought a few with lids on them. He no longer steals them at all from anywhere.

Now only if I could keep him from watching the counters. He's so sneaky, he knows as soon as one of us messes up and leave something out too close to the edge. :gaah

When I brought Olive home at 8 weeks, about an hour after we got her safely ensconced in our kitchen, she discovered the TP in the half bath at the end of the kitchen. That bathroom hasn't had any TP on the wall hanger since then. And, if I leave a roll too close to the edge of the vanity in there, she'll jump up and down until she can grab it. She knows she's not supposed to have it, so as soon as she gets it, she leads a merry chase as we all try to get it away from her before she shreds it to smithereens.

This is US EXACTLY!

No toilet paper on our rolls either! Its on the vanity - but yes Julip is getting so tall & that lovely long snout can really reach a lot now!

We were at my Dads on the wknd. with Julip, while we are eating dinner we see this flash & a white trail - yep she discovered their toilet paper!

And a big yes to dinner napkins, my eyes water a lot when I eat (ya its

I can no longer leave my TP on the roller. Indy takes it off and brings it into the living room and spreads it all around. I never see him do it.....he is the "Stealth TP Thief". He knows I'm watching and the second I turn my back, he has got it and chewing away. These dogs are smarter than you can imagine.

Um, wow! Apparently I'm tempting fate. We've been renovating our upstairs so during the day when we're not home we've been confining our three shelties in the bathroom...beside a full basket of new toilet paper rolls. They've never touched them... so far. maybe I'd better stop tempting fate and remove them. :o

my childhood sheltie used to pull the tissues out of the box. he wouldn't shred them, but he was fascinated by the fact that each time he pulled a tissue out, another one would appear. our other sheltie shredded them for him :wink2:

Dixie likes to shred paper- sometimes I'll give her a piece of junk mail.
priceless expression- it's for me:yes:- and then she takes it outside and makes confetti.

Yep :gaah

Anything paper is a target. One day Miss Sadie came out into the living room dragging a 24 pack box from diet coke. Sooooo funny.

Apparently I've heard it has to do with the glue they use in the tissue products to hold it all together. Some dogs just like the taste or something. My guys love eating tissues too!

Bela seems to be fascinated with the fact that after removing a tissue from the box, another one magically appears. But being the obsessive/compulsive little girl that she is, she MUST shred the tissue before removing the magic one. She never eats them - just has a great time shredding them into as many tiny pieces as possible.

She gets this funny, far-away, zoned-out look (like she's on drugs or something) and takes her tissue and lies down. She puts both feet carefully atop the tissue and s-l-o-w-l-y tears off strips. Fascinating to watch, though when I laugh at her, she gets embarrassed and quits. I've tried to get a video clip of this all week, but she's not cooperating.

There is glue in tissue products????? Eww!

And if Indy is chewing tp becuase of glue that's even worse. TP is now going under lock down!

That's what I was told. Of course I could be wrong. There's something in there that makes it tasty to dogs for sure.
