The sheltie nobody wants

I thought it was a typo when I read the date this sable sheltie was rescued and I emailed them to find out if it was true. He was rescued in 2008 by this no kill shelter in Kansas. She said nobody wants a senior sheltie and the breed specific rescues pass up the dogs here because it is no kill. Lucky I am sure is lucky he is in a no kill shelter but he would like a home or even a foster home.
I was told he hurt his leg running the fence line so now you know nobody will want him. Here is his petfinder link

it says mix but I think he is all sheltie. I emailed a sheltiecrescue in Kansas but have not heard back.

Lucky looks all sheltie to me. Just a bath and a brush and he would be even more beautiful. I can’t believe he’s been there since 2008 and I wouldn’t consider 8 years old as a ‘senior’ sheltie. Let’s hope sheltie rescue Kansas can step in and get this boy a new home. Danny’s mom, let us know what you hear back for from rescue.

How sad to see such a beautiful fellow at a shelter. My 1st shelties were 3 that were in a shelter in OK. One was at least 8 years old & the other 2 were at least 4. I wouldn't have traded the time I had with them for anything. He is a perfect age. Let me know if the rescue doesn't respond favorably. I will gladly post him on their craigslist if he isn't already on there. We did it for Zippy, remember? Bailey & London ( the CT shelties) are my gift from the forum family so I am happy to give back where I can.

I have not heard back from the sheltie rescue. So maybe posting him on craigslist is a good idea. Thank you. He seems to be a shelter lifer. Kind of sad not to have a real home. Any ideas and help is greatly appreciated.

Oooohhhhh...poor thing. Think they'll send him off to CA? Seriously, I'd take the poor guy. 4 years in a shelter? That's so sad.

I'll contact Shari with Texas Collie and Sheltie Rescue, they work with Pilots and Paws maybe they can rescue him. They just got one who wass in a shelter for two years after being hit by a car with no care all that time.

I'm new here so pls excuse my question. Is there anything/way that we of SN can set up a PayPal account or something similar to off set costs when one of us is willing to take a furbaby that isn't close? Case in point: I'm in the middle of doing my taxes and looked at my Missionfish account.

I bet they would consider transporting him to his forever home. Four years in a rescue is too long. They are probably thinking they'll be caring for him forever. The cost to transport would pale in comparison.

Although I had a way to bring Lottie home, the rescue in St Louis was willing to transport her to me if necessary.

I don't understand why they don't have him groomed. He would look so much better to people considering adoption.

Poor Lucky cannot put any weight on his paw. They said he hurt it running the fence line. He was given medicine for pain but it didn't help. He hadn't been to the vet yet. If nobody wants him in Kansas well maybe somebody from another state will. The problem would be how to transport him especially now with a hurt paw. I hope they take him to the vet soon and get his paw looked at. Big sigh.
