Thoughts and Prayers to Kelly

Kelly I am so sorry you lost your boy. I have been so busy I just caught this post tonight. When you have such a dog, it is an honor that we could have them for just that little while in our life.

They do sense our feelings, our body language as we have a sense for them also what they are saying to us.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Thank you all for this wonderful thread. I'm sorry it has taken me this long to muster the courage to read it. You know until now, I never made the mental & emotional link between creating the forum & actually needing the support myself.

I'm still struggling to make it through a day without crying. (My poor husband.) My thoughts are still splintered & I'm easily distracted. I am also still not ready to tackle resuming Sheltie Nation (or to read all the wonderful comments that everyone left there) but I'm slowly getting back to a routine.

This past week has felt so surreal. I've spent so many years worrying & catering to Trevor that I really don't know what to do with myself now. But the emotional loss is the worst. That dog understood me. All he ever wanted to do was to be with me & please me. If I was upset he either wanted to be hugged/patted or tried to make me laugh. His goal was to get me to forget my troubles. Now that he is gone, I realize what a huge presence he was in my life. It is a really lonely feeling.

I still doubt the decision I made, but I do have hope that with time that will get clearer. I once gave advice to my friend about her cat that was given to me about putting down my horse. I totally had forgotten it.

"You made the best choice when no good choice was to be made."

It is so true in Trevor's case, but loosing him has been so much harder than I ever imagined it would be.

I'm so grateful for everyone on this forum. From the bottom of my heart....thank you!!!

You made the correct choice. I have no doubt that you 1000% cared and were trying to do the absolute best for Trevor. Anyone that expects more from someone is just unreasonable. Attempt to remember his joy. After Dow (15 years best buddy) I had to wait a year to even consider another pup. My biggest fear was that the new pup would have to live up to the Dow. At first and still I slip and call Sca Dow out of habit but the truth is they are sooo different and each wonderful in their own way. Now I have a new best buddy in Sca who is different but no less a buddy. Keep your chin up as while you will miss Trevor it does get better and one day there will be a new different pup that scoots into your heart next to Trevor to keep you warm.

Kelly God Bless and comfort you .

These are extremely difficult times and I won't lie to you It doesn't get easier for awhile. I lost my soul mate Jewel over 2 years ago and there are times I still find myself crying over her loss. I pray that Our Good Lord give you the strength needed to ease this great burden. Trevor is at peace now and does await you at the Bridge. Though a very difficult one you help ease Trevors pain. We all second guess ourselves. Did I make the right choice? The answer you know is yes. I had my Jewel cremated along with her very favorite toy and I keep her ashes in my room so I can hug her when I'm lonely. It does help. Take your time with the grieving and allow yourself the bouts of crying . Most of us have been there and know how you feel. Please take care of yourself as well for Trevor wouldn't want you getting ill. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hugs,
Elaine and Kia

Kelly we all know what you're going through and how you feel, we really do! It will be a year next month that my beloved best friend and soul mate 'Tyler' went to the Rainbow Bridge. I still cry over him a year later and you know what, that's okay, it's okay to miss him still.

You are in ALL of our thoughts and prayers...

sending you many hugs

We're all here for you. You and Trevor have touched us all either directly or indirectly through this forum and we cannot thank you enough but can offer you that same strong shoulder that you shared with us and the knowledge that we completely understand and are here for you.

It's not often that we have to make a choice between life and death, and we know what we have to do, but that doesn't make the call easy.
God only gift's us out our Shelties for a short 15 years, if we are lucky. All of us will face loosing one or all. I face loosing my Everett someday, and my parents too. the future looks gloomy sometimes, but we cry our tears and step forward, sometimes in small steps.
Our hearts are with you Kelly, and someday we know we will need your support too; and you will be here for us too..
we all love you in our sheltie way...
Steve and The Everett

Kelly,

I know all too well how hard it is for you, my Buttons meant as much to me. Take comfort in knowing that our beloved Shelties will be waiting for us when it's our turn to cross over to the other side.
