Two sorry shelties

Two of my three are crated from 9 - 5 everyday as well. They are perfectly fine! Cooper is over the top happy when I come home, but he happily goes to his crate when I leave. Some days I get to come home at lunch. Cooper always pees, but Lottie sometimes doesn't even go into the yard. She's definitely not adversely affected by her time in the crate.

How old are Bentley and Lexi now?

I think their "containment" is somewhat age dependant.

That being said, no matter the age, pooping means "crate' in my book. Back to puppu 101. Chewing might mean an xpen, but if you have to crate one, you might as well crate the other.

btw....when I was still crating my boys, they were in different parts of the house. I don't know if it made a difference, but at least they did not feed off each other.

Eventually, I moved them to being free into the kitchen (no carpets), and then finally extended that to the family room.

Now at 3.5 years, the biggest risk I have is toilet paper......Indy likes to take it off the roll and bring it into the living room to chew.

all the pups here are crated when I leave the house- mostly 8-9 hours, occasionally longer.
Bentley and Lexi will be fine:yes:

I think that's the plan. I found another place that Lexi has been chewing  So, DH and I have altered our morning plans (:sleepy:) to walk the dogs in the morning so we can crate them and not feel quite as guilty.

Oh, and guess who is happy about the new arrangements? (Irene, you'll like this!)

Love the photo! Our Smokey (aka Fat Boy) was quite delighted to see Mikos and Brie in crates, but he got in trouble for wandering in to sit on their crates when they had gone to bed in them!

3 of my 4 are crated during the day. 7-8 hrs. Sable my oldest (almost 7) is loose, cut, she's a couch potato.

I wouldn't have a house left if Sadie was loose all day!!!!! She gets into ANYTHING and EVERYTHING she can. I can't even leave the room to go to the bathroom without her jumping up on the furniture to grab something off the tables. DEVIL DOG!!

Hope you rubbed his belly for me :D

Ooo...busted. I agree, Bimmer is framing them.

I think you should do what I did. Get LARGE wire crates. Can you borrow them from someone who has...say a German Shepard sized dog? Okay, maybe smaller. That way, Lexi can't jump out, can't bite a whole through the metal (although, I have seen the damage a dog can do), etc.

Good luck!
