Ugh.. Cali inhaled a chicken drumstick in basically 2 pieces.. should I worry?

Mike you sound like almost as much of a worrier as me.
Its good that you are so attentive and I'm sure that she will be fine. I'm also sure that you are completely "on top" of changes in her health; which is all a parent can do.

I hope that your friend is on the mend from his accident and I'm so sorry that he was hurt and his pup killed (lost?) in the crash.

Mike you sound just like me when Chinook ate his first RMB and it was all swallowed whole after two chews! I came into the kitchen and he thought I was going to take it away so down it went! I was paranoid the entire night. He was only 10 weeks old at the time. I emailed people that fed raw and researched, woke up at night at least 5 times to make sure he was still OK, and in the end, he was just fine. Funny how we get with our 'babies' isn't it? We love them so much. You are a great dad!:smile2:

I am going to be a mess when I have human kids!

I worry WAY more about Wolfie than I ever did about my four human kids (now ages 10, 13, 16 and 20). I'm a NICU nurse, so the baby part was a breeze. Once they get older, they are able to voice their opinions and take care of themselves. There's a lot of guesswork involved in owning and caring for an animal that really adds to the stress. If only they spoke our language!

I have no experience feeding raw, but I think it was my local supplier that said they often swallow things whole, that that's part of being a carnivore.

I am an obsessive worrier! I totally understand what you are going through. Ellie got under my feet yesterday and I stepped on her toe and she screamed bloody murder and was holding up the leg that I stepped on, screaming, as if to say, "Look what you did! Look what you did!" :( I fell apart! I scooped her up and kissed her and kissed her and rocked her and felt her leg up and down. Two seconds later she wanted down and was playing on her "mangled" leg! Later that evening, unbeknownst to me, she had the edge of a paw under the edge of my recliner and I just shifted in my seat and it caused just a tiny bit of pressure on her paw and she started screaming again. I thought my heart was going to leap out of my chest. Two times in one day! Once again she got scooped up and loved on. She had been sleeping at the time of this accident, so she fell back to sleep in my arms in about 10 seconds. So, I know what it's like to be scared of losing a precious furbaby. Please let us know how your baby makes out. :smile2:

well it seems it finally came out a little bit ago.. She will have to go potty 1 or 2 more times before I am certain but I think she is all empty. It certainly did not help that we woke up to 8 inches of snow on the ground.. She really did not want to go to the bathroom in that! Thanks for all the kind words!

Great News!

Congratulations, Mike, on a successful raw feeding and "passage of terror." Once more, many were breathlessly for news of poop!

Seriously, I checked on you several times a day -- I was worried, too -- more about you than Callie.

Well I still want to get her to go at least one more time to make sure it all came out! My gf was the one that got her to go this afternoon. She just was not having it early this morning when I took her out because it was snowing like crazy and she was like "I don't have to go that bad and you can't make me!". Kim said it was definately a smaller poop then normal and she thinks I am crazy for making her follow Cali around after she goes to see what it looks like. The smaller poop makes sense since it was the RMB so we will see tonight before bed what it is like. She usually poops 3 times a day but when it snows or its raining alot she will only go 1 maybe 2 times. She is acting completely normal and is asleep on the cought right now. We ran around in the almost 11 inches of snow we got her for a good 45 minutes and she is wiped out now! Its amazing how good the snow cleans up all the white fur on them! LOL

Thanks again for all the kind words.. I know I freak out about the littlest things sometimes with her, but well.. I learned it from my mother and I seriously doubt I will ever stop as she still is the same way!

Isn't it funny how excited we can get over poo! I'm relieved everything is "coming out" well. I know you will sleep better tonight ;-).

I too am so deeply sorry to hear of your friend losing his puppy. I hope he is coming through the grieving process as well as a person can.

There's no words for this kind of heartache.

Mike-My Cooper swallowed a part of a chicken bone whole once. I also panicked, called the vet and he said "Did he enjoy it?"

Although I worried, Cooper didn't have any problems with digesting the bone. It is amazing what these guys can eat and digest. My vet worries mostly about swallowing strings, not chicken bones.
