Remember what happend to little Ellie (Lahree's pup?) when she went to a 'cheaper' spay and neauter clinic? Poor thing almost did not make it. Here's Lahree's post on her thread:

I need help right away, please!
Ellie was spayed today at one of those low cost spay and neuter places. They called me after the surgery and said that when they opened her up, that some of her internal organs were 'intertwined" and that her left kidney was adhered to her abdominal wall. What should have been a simple spay turned into major surgery. Instead of a small insicion and disolvable stitches, she has an super long incision and staples. I asked to speak to the vet and they said he had gone for the day. They asked what questions did I have and they would call him. They called him from a back room and did not let me speak to him, they just reported back to me what he said.
Here are my questions/concerns. They told me at the surgery place that the minute she opened her eyes she went mad trying to get to the stitches. I had brought along the inflatable collar and they put it on her. They also said she was bucking and thrasing and in real danger of hurting herself. They have no clue why she was acting that way, but they told me to keep her in her crate, period, and to take her out on a leash to go potty and keep her on a leash anytime she went outdoors. Well, she has been calm and happy to be home, so I think it was the unfamilair place and the anesthesia that was causing her to be so wild. However..........
She has been home for two hours and has not stopped whining and crying the entire time. I took her out on a leash and she urinated (yeah, kidney works!) and since I put her back in the cage she is now starting to paw at the bars and thrash around in the crate. She can't get comfortable with the collar around her neck. She exhausts herself and she'll start to drift off, but when she lowers her head enough for the collar to push against her neck, she's wide awake and crying. I think she very much wants to sleep, but the collar is driving her insane whenever it pushes against her neck. She wants out of that crate in a big way.
A. Should I let her out of the crate to see if she is happier and calmer if she can be next to us? (we would sit on the floor so as not to tempt her to jump up or strain herself).
B. How long does it take to get used to wearing one of those collars? she has to wear this for TEN DAYS! None of us are going to be able to sleep if she doesn't get used to it!
C> Does anyone know on the average how long she is going to cry and whine? Do you think she is in pain or just unhappy?
I don't know what to do! She is in misery!"
I go to where I trust the vet(s) - I do not take the cost into consideration. I am willing to pay more for better care for my babies.
