We brought home our new puppy yesterday!

What a cute puppy and beautiful daughter. My very first sheltie was a tri, Pal, and we got him around your daughter's age too. I will always remember that day like it was yesterday. Send more pics as he gets older.:smile2:
 
She had her first vet visit today and last round of puppy shots. My daughter will be starting puppy obedience classes with her Sunday. She's been such a good puppy so far, but I do have some concerns that she isn't as outgoing as I thought she would be. She just came home Sunday night...is it possible that she is still in the getting acquainted stage? I guess I may be comparing her to my Havanese who came into the house like they always lived there. I just hope she warms up and isn't a shy girl.

I would say give her some time to get used to her new surroundings and family :yes:
 
She is adorable! LOVE the white on her face, extra cute!

My thought - names always get shortened (its habit!:wink2:) So if you go with Katness, know she will at 1 point or another just be called Kat (yes spelled with a K), but when yelling KAT for you DOG! It may sound odd to people in the park etc. :winkgrin:

Getting her out & about - with your training class etc. will help her lots with socialization. You said she just got ALL her shots, right? So bring her LOTS of places! Enjoy!
 
My first sheltie was a tri. Enjoy the years of happiness she will give you and your family. This forum is wonderful, no question is silly here?
 
As to her being somewhat introverted, it could definitely be her getting used to a totally new environment.

When we first brought our sheltie Bentley home, he would pick up all of his toys and put them in his crate like he was worried we might take them!

About a week later and I don't think he went into his crate again (except for when we asked him to, of course)

This is a great idea. If she has had all of her vaccinations you can start taking her out and about. You might start with less crowded places like a big park, and then start taking her to pet stores, or an outdoor shopping mall. Bring lots of treats and reward her for positive interactions.
