What Breed Has Your Sheltie Been Confused With?

My mother met Toby yesterday and said she never would have believed he was a sheltie, she thinks he looks like a german shepard collie cross (He's a tri).

I had someone ask if she was a chihuahua when she was smaller! Mostly I get asked if she is a mini-lassie. I am surprised at how many people actually know that she is a sheltie though! :)

Last week, I went to Petsmart with Ember and not 1 , not 2, but 3 people called her a mini Aussie. What the heck? Ember was deeply offended. She had just been groomed up prior to going there and was not having a bad hair day.

She should be offended....especially since she has a BEAUTIFUL long bushy, flowy, etc tail.

My Dad met Toby for the first time the other day and agreed with her, he would have never thought he was a sheltie, but a shepard x bc cross. At least he thought Toby was beautiful. :rolleyes2:

I get this ALL the time with Dandie. Even when I am walking all the Shelties together, they guess Dandie to be a different breed.

I get called lassie all the time, " Look its Lassie" to which the mommy lady replys," yes we are looking for Timmy have you seen him" and the second is "she looks just like a fox" and mommy lady's reply to that one is usually, "really? ya think and then she says well she is pretty sly and awfully smart" and that sure makes me smile.

Many people think she is a........

Our little 11 1/2 week old Sheltie Merle has many people thinking she is an Australian Shepard.

I take her into Petsmart quite a bit. One of the employees there just got an Australian Shepard Merle puppy the same time we got ours.

We were all in the store at the same time, and it was so cute to see the 2 puppies together, however, except for the coloring, they really don't look alike.
