What Breed To Get???

I'm not usually one for the hairless breeds of dogs or cats but what about a Chinese Crested? Here's some information on their personality and temperament: http://www.petwave.com/Dogs/Dog-Breed-Center/Toy-Group/Chinese-Crested/Personality.aspx

I had one of these little dogs in one of my agility classes and it was one of the sweetest dogs I ever met. It was also adorably cute!

From what the owner told me, you do have to bathe it, as you would any other dog, but a nice mild shampoo and clean sink is really all you need.


If not this, then I second the Papillon. If it got to a point where I couldn't own a Sheltie and was limited to toy breeds, this breed is high on my list.
 
I love the Havanese and they're great little dogs for people with allergies, but you're dealing with a coat again that requires care and brushing.
 
English cockers don't get nearly the amount of hair that American cockers do. I'd have to ask but I suspect that most pet owners have them clipped a couple or 3 times a year.
 
How about a whippet? Talk about low (coat) maintenance! And the ones I've known have been really sweet.

Corgis are awesome, too and personality plus.

English Cocker - omg those puppies are sooo cute! (had to see what they looked like)

Whippet - although, I'm thinking if he's a Lab guy, he may want a dog that looks a bit more, um, sturdy.

Ditto with the Chinese Crested

Revisit the Cavalier.

I personally am falling in love with the Papillion myself. lol. I think something that may help him decide is what kind of personality does he want? A Lab is a working dog (generalization), does he want a dog that was bred for a job (not terriers though)? Or just a dog in general....I'm thinking the Cavalier, Chinese, and Papillion weren't bred for jobs.
 
sorry for posting again, I think whippets would be a great choice also, I had one when I was younger, they are small, but, they are low maintenance, sturdy and loyal to a fault. My brothers couldn't yell at me when tiger was around, and forget about walking past my door at night.

I also had a beagle, they are also pretty low maintenance
