Worst birthday ever

Ember is feeling really good this morning. She slept all though the night and woke me up this morning with her normal barking. Chased a squirrel up the big Maple tree (so she could really get squirrel breath:wink2:) and generally acting like her normal self. I fed her soft food this AM and she wolfed it down as usual and I really don't think she realized I slipped in the antibiotics pill.

Oh and last night she found a rawride that Porter was chewing on last week and was chewing on it in the hallway before I took it away from her. I think she'll be just fine.:smile2:

Poor Ember, it dosn't sound like it was a fantastic way of spending her birthday! However, sounds as if she still managed to make the best of it:lol:

Ember, we feel really sorry for you. Ask your Mom if you can have a birthday do-over. Have lots of treats and toys, too -- and a walk in a place with squirrels so you can get REAL dead squirrel breath!

Layla, Bitsy Boodle, Annie Laurie and Beckon

Ember has talked me into a birthday do over. Her buddy Grizz is having his 2nd birthday on the 25th.(cause all the cool bi blue dogs are born in May). We are going to have the party Weds night after puppy class.

Ember is looking forward to the gifts and party food.

I just wanted to say I still can not believe I didn't find that tooth way eariler it was so rotten. She was showing no obvious signs but thinking back there were small ones. She was dropping things when she retrieved, when Diva was gone to Nationals a cow ear sat for 2 wks on the living room floor without anyone chewing on it. The tartar was building up on the canine tooth on that side. There was increased blood when I brushed her teeth(yet she did not mind the brushing:confused2:)

It was so far back(lower 2nd molar) and her lips were so tight that I could not see it until properly without fully opening her mouth. She is acting like a total loon today and feels so good, it must have been brothering her for a while. I have no idea why it abscessed. The first tooth any of my dogs have lost. I hope this helps someone reckonize possible signs of problems in their dogs.

I am so happy she is feeling better today. sounds like it will be a fun party with her friends after class. Thanks for listing the signs for us to look out for.

Happy belated birthday Ember!!! I'm glad your mom figured out what was bothering you and you're feeling so much better now!

And Bailey says the coolest doggies are born in May :wink2:

Don't feel bad Dr. Shelli, Asta's bottom incisors were ready to abscess according to our vet when she had her teeth cleaned in Jan. We had absolutely no indication, and we do brush her teeth. They said one almost fell out on its own when they went to clean. :confused2: So out they came and now her smile is kinda funny...

Anyway, Happy belated birthday to Miss Ember, a dog I love to hear stories about. She is just a kick. Glad she is getting a birthday do-over.

Ally's 9th bday is also May 25!

Happy Birthday to Ember and good for you getting the do-over!! Way to guilt your mom.

So glad to hear she found the bad tooth...it probably wouldn't have been much fun celebrating with that anyway. You have a great Sheltie mom!

Enjoy the party!

Belated happy day to Ember ! So glad that she is feeling so much better.

Thanks for the benefit of your experience. I brush Snap's teeth daily. However, I really ought to take a good look around in his mouth as well. I'm right handed and I know that I do a much better job brushing the teeth on his left side.

Happy Birthday Ember! Pal and Maverick think you should get a birthday do over! Mom should give you an extra birthday day this year for what you had to go through! Hope you are doing well.
