Worst thing you ever caught in your Sheltie's mouth?

Oh, I had forgotten about flip flops! I lost two pairs of those alone this year! Over the years, it's probably in excess of ten... :x Good thing I buy the 2 for $5 pairs from Old Navy

The other night I took Miko out for a short walk before bed... He's always picking up leaves and pine cones, so I assumed he had a pine cone in his mouth when we got back to the door (it was dark out, so I couldn't see very well). Once we were in the light on the porch, I could see a bit hanging out of his mouth and I realized that it wasn't a pine cone.. I was certain it was a piece of poop :yuck: Anyway, I didn't want him eating it, so I had to pry his mouth open and pull it out... Only after quickly whipping it out of his mouth onto the ground did I realize that he was mushing up a GIANT SLUG!! Blech... I almost barfed!!

One of my worst nightmares. Picking out some sort of dead bug/animal/creature. Yuck.

Cosmo has a thing for shoe laces, most often only the wifes, vacuum cleaner power cord while plugged in, another computer headset here as well as numerous other computer Usb & network cables under my desk, if something in the home systems not working that's usually the first place I check. HE also will do the dreaded Poo thing every now & then.

Oh my goodness, Ginny will eat ANYTHING that crosses her path. Its something I've been TRYING to work on with her. I've caught Ginny eating:

Dirt, Wood chips, grass, stones, weeds, poop (Her own, her sisters, her friends, random dogs, cat poop, bird poop, goose poo, seagull poo, rabbit poo), pieces of carpet, fuzz, Sadie's fur, sheltie tumble weeds, sticks, plastic, bread, my plants (she LOVES petunias), pieces of her toys, bones and candy off the ground...thats all I can think of off the top of my head, but I know I'm forgetting some. Oh yeah, I also caught her chomping away on a dead mouse once. :dead:

Sadie isn't so bad. She won't eat just any poop, only her own when its fresh and warm. If its cold, forget it.:dead: She'll also eat the poop of other animals, such as various birds and rabbits. I caught her chewing various pieces of wooden furniture and our new cedar steps my dh and fil had painstakingly built. Also bones, sticks and bread she finds on the ground. I was horrified once when she passed a 3 inch stick.

Good thing my girls are usually REALLY good about dropping the things!

So far Toby hasn't eaten anything bad, he still needs time to get creative in his new home.

Milo is a little more creative. He loves rabbit poo and was caught raiding the cat's litter box as a pup. He also likes stealing buns and danishes off of the counter when the opportunity arises. When you go into the basement you can hear him bouncing up and down, checking out the counters and kitchen table. Its not uncommon for him to steal a cookie out of someone's hand as they walk by.

When Milo was a puppy, he stole two pairs of glasses and chewed on the glass and ear pieces. One set of glasses needed new lenses. Luckily, both sets were Flexon frames, which are nearly indestructible and survived the attack. He also stole and destroyed several retainers from both me and my brother (the glasses were mine and my brothers also). Milo also humiliated me several times by running through the living room with my underwear, which he stole from the dirty laundry. He only ever did this when we had company over, then he'd parade around with them like he was carrying a flag. :rolleyes2:

Since the sewing needle episode, I'm always on the prowl for anything that Indy might get into. Lately its been innocuous....toilet paper, granola bar wraps, bread bag plastic ties.....but what is next?:rolleyes2:

When Mally Was a Puppy...

Our cockatiel, Rocky. (Mally had him in his mouth!) When Mally was a young puppy we would throw soft toys in the house and Mally would catch them in mid air and then retrieve. One morning I was cleaning the bird cage and Rocky got out and flew, Mally caught him in mid air. I think Mally thought he was a toy. No damage done. I got Rocky out of Mally's mouth. Rocky was unharmed. ( I was frightened & upset, though.) Mally sensed it and has nothing to so with the birds (we have 3) to this day.

With Sandstorm it has been cigarette packs (empty ones that he finds on the road). He loves them.
He almost ate a remote battery- I screamed and he hasn't tried it since.
Bird poop- we have a Love bird, Sandstorm likes her poop.
Seaweed- he loves to eat seaweed.
Magazines about birds, he likes their pictures.
That's about it for now.
