I must have trained him properly...

There is a t-shirt for sale somewhere that says, "If Lassie had been a Sheltie, Timmy never would've fallen down the well, in the first place!" I love this and say it to anyone who thinks my Ember is a Collie!!

    Trainer referral

Does any one know a good trainer in the Harbor City/Torrance/San Pedro area? I need help. This is my first dog and nothing seems to work with her. She will listen to me when there are ZERO distractions or if I have a treat in front of her nose. Otherwise, she pays no attention and could care...

    Walk vs. Patrol

Will try the dinner as treats..great idea! Thank you. And Dawn, thanks...I hated how I reacted to her on the prong collar (or her regular collar) when she gets out of control. I really don't see how the GL collar could cause problems, unless someone yanked it hard. Ember is really...

    Walk vs. Patrol

Great ideas, but my little girl is a food-hound and the treats are a problem, you see, as Ember has gotten fat and is on a diet...I have cut her treats into quarters to stretch them, but give her as much love and 'good girls' as I can. Sandy

    Walk vs. Patrol

Great ideas! Thank you!! It weird, how for Ember, it's like a switch is turned on when we put it on! She goes from 'out of control devil-dog' to 'Miss Perfect Dog'. I love it!!

    Walk vs. Patrol

When I walk Ember, I feel as though she is on patrol. She scans trees and walls for squirrels and lowers her head to check under cars for cats. If we go by a house where she know there is a dog, she becomes a monster, barking, snarling, nipping and pulling. We were working with a trainer and...

    now that is impressive training

This is awesome!! I am teaching Ember to run next to my bike and she loves it. I can't walk enough to exercise her properly...she has so much energy!! Wish she could be off-leash to run, but she would be off after every squirrel!!

Life's a stage and my sheltie runs the show...

No Garlic, please!!! According to http://www.risingwoods.org/OURFAMILY/THEDOGS/knowntoxicfoodsfordogs.htm Onions and garlic (raw, cooked, or powder)....Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause anemia.Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Garlic is less...

Found her owner Kathy, from Southland Sheltie Rescue had me find exactly where she was found and when, which I did. After the picnic, I circled that area and found a man on the street who saw a flyer for this dog and directed me to owners house...I put her in touch with Rescue and she should...

Found Sable Sheltie Torrance, CA - Update - owner located

I think it was Karma that I was at the vets with my dog for an unscheduled visit because of a red eye, when this dog was brought in by the person who found her, and I just happened to be going to the Southland Sheltie Rescue picnic in the morning to meet more people with Shelties. Weird how...
