Adopting our First Sheltie

What a beautiful girl she is! I bet can't wait to have her home! Wishing you good weather and safe travels so you can go get your new girl!

Martinagle collars would be my first choice as well.

I learned that the first time Bacca slipped his collar and escaped.

Shelties have thick necks in comparison to their heads. Plus with their thick ruffs, a normal collar just rubs against it and matts it up.

I prefer a rolled martingale if you can find it. Unfortunately, the designer who used to make mine is no longer producing except on a limited basis. But if you can a similar, then that would be my recommendation

Welcome to the Forum, Jan. What a wonderful thing you are doing in adopting Molly. She is beautiful...thanks for sharing her pictures.

Welcome, Jan.

My sympathy over your recent loss of Maggie and congratulations over your soon to be Molly. I am assuming she is the Molly with TriState...I saw that Julie had put "adopting pending" by her name today. :) She is a pretty girl and I am sure will keep you busy and bring lots of smiles into your life.

Welcome Jan and Molly to Sheltie Nation, from Florida. Congratulations to Molly on finding her forever home, she is a strikingly beautiful Sheltie, kudos to you for adopting, this is a win-win all the way around. Have a safe trip when you pick up your new baby. :hugs

Welcome to Sheltienation Jan! Molly is beautiful-I think you're going to get an awesome dog this Saturday:winkgrin:

We also use Martingale collars for our two Shelties.

Welcome to Sheltie Nation, Jan and Molly! She sure is a pretty girl!

Gotta echo the praise for Martingales. Before I switched to a Martingale, Lerwick slipped out of his collar TWICE in our backyard (which isn't fenced) during unexpected rounds of "zoomies" (a topic discussed frequently on this forum, if you want to search for it) during potty trips. I feel much better now that he can't back out of his Martingale. It has also cut down on the mats behind his ears, as BarbV mentioned.
