Adopting our First Sheltie

Welcome, Jan.

My sympathy over your recent loss of Maggie and congratulations over your soon to be Molly. I am assuming she is the Molly with TriState...I saw that Julie had put "adopting pending" by her name today. :) She is a pretty girl and I am sure will keep you busy and bring lots of smiles into your life.

Yes! Molly is from Tri-State, my husband was ecstatic when he saw the "adoption pending" tag go up on her listing.

Naturally I have been to Petco to get her a new lead, a Christmas stocking, a tug toy, cow ears and a couple of balls to fetch, all things her foster mom says she likes. Getting an ID tag today, too.

:) "Adoption pending" does make it feel "official"...a great feeling.

Molly is such a lucky gal...a loving forever home for the holidays...it doesn't get any better than that.

Hi and welcome to you and Molly. Congratulations on adopting her. Very wise of you to be cautious - SO MANY stories about recently re-homed Shelties escaping from their new owners. I use a thin slip chain on Brooke; her breeder gave it to me and she's used to it. She doesn't pull while walking so I don't worry about choking her with it.

Give your girl lots of time to adjust, again, Shelties can be skittish. It was months before I allowed Brooke off leash at all.

Look forward to hearing all about her. Safe travels!
