Baker says hello!

Morning. At least the poo is working now!

I didn't mean wake him at 1, I meant wake as the final outting before bed. Sorry to be unclear, my internet is doing flip flops and I am having tons of trouble.

If I recall correctly (a year ago when Fillion was tiny) he went out for a pee right before I went to bed regardless of when that was. I get up middle of night anyway to visit the bathroom, so would swoop him up and take him out usually around 2--he would pee the second his feet hit the ground and right back inside and asleep. Then up at 5 or 6 and immediately outside...only had one pee inside at night. Of course he was right next to me so if he whimpered I heard it and out we went. Having a slider in the bedroom leading to the back yard is very helpful :)

Cubby is on the same schedule as Fillion was -- last time out when we go to bed -- I usually wake up 1-3 sometime myself and out we go. Then if he yips later I will take him out a 2nd time later. Unfortunately, no slider; our potty area is downstairs, through the kitchen, through the garage, and out to the back. Bleh. Two storey house -- never ever again! Lucky to not break my neck every time!

How's Baker doing today?

Baker is doing great! According to hubby, he had a good day.

This morning we had a bit of a disagreement because I thought it was understood that if he couldn't be watched, he would be in his crate. I was getting ready for work & heard hubby go into his office. I asked if the little guy was crated, and he said no, he was in the back room with the gate shut. I stopped what I was doing & announced that I would go crate him.

Poor hubby - he said he was only going to be in there for a "few minutes", logging onto his computer stuff. What I tried to explain was that a "few minutes" of Baker being able to chew on a table leg without being corrected was just asking for trouble. Am I being too strict? Our pellet stove sits on a tile base that has an oak trim. Baker is obsessed, and I want to always make sure he is redirected to something he SHOULD be chewing on...

Vet visit this afternoon - he passed with flying colors. 3 lbs 1.5 oz. Vet knew Trace well, and was very pleased with Baker's AKC name (Kissed By Trace will be part of it).

No accidents after this morning's poo, but also no poo after supper again. Vet says it may take a few days for the routine to settle in. He ran around like a mad man until about 9pm. He is just so funny to watch - don't know how we occupied our days before this.

Oh, I remember - we could actually watch an hour long TV show in an hour, not 2 because of dealing with Baker...wouldn't trade this for a good life! :biggrin2:

Wow! Cubby is ginormous! He weighed 7 pounds yesterday and he is totally thin.

Yes, my husband also has the "I'll just be a couple minutes" theory. I had to grocery shop Sun. which ends up being a 3 hour journey. Worried the whole time.

Not sure if Cubby is large, but Baker is so stinkin' tiny. I feel bad asking the little guy to learn the housebreaking rules, and have to remind myself that he is small, but still is 8+ weeks old.

Good thing we don't have any play dates planned - Cubby would probably laugh at little "nerdy" Baker. lol

Cubby would love his "little cousin".

I thought you might like a comparison of Cubby . . . only we didn't have any water bottles. Here is Cubby trying to duplicate your pic of Baker. Yours is WAY cuter. Ours is, well, unnatural. We won't be getting the commercial endorsements you will!

I don't think you're being too strict. My husband and I have just started letting Enzo out of our sight for even a few seconds--and even then it makes me nervous. We spend our evenings going "do you see him?" and "are you watching him?" "can you watch him? I need to go do *insert something here*". I think training is faster and easier if you can prevent things from happening. Doesn't mean there won't be accidents or 30 seconds of mischief here and there, but I'm with you. Constant vigilance :)

OMG - you have just described my life completely! And this is when the two of us are in the same room with Baker. Last night I had to stuff a pillow under my recliner because he kept going under it. We need to do the same with husband's tonight because Baker has decided that one will work as plan B.
